NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour and North Wilkesboro Speedway officials announced Thursday that the previously postponed Brushy Mountain Powersports 150 has a new race date. The race will now take place on Sunday, October 20 at the famed short track in the North Carolina foothills and will now become the penultimate race on the 2024 calendar.

Green flag for the Brushy Mountain Powersports 150 will be at 2 p.m. ET on October 20.

NASCAR announced on Monday that the race was being “postponed indefinitely” due to Hurricane Helene, but the made sure to say that all efforts would be made to find a suitable replacement date. The decision to postpone was made in cooperation with local authorities to ensure all local emergency resources remained dedicated to clean-up and recovery efforts in the aftermath of the storm.

Soon after the postponement was announced, North Wilkesboro Speedway announced that it would become a donations collection location, as well as a staging location for relief efforts.

The new date for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour makes that weekend become a massive weekend of racing at the historic facility. The CARS Tour Late Model Stock Cars and Pro Late Models will hold a two-day show on Friday, October 18 and Saturday, October 19 to close out their 2024 season, along with the SMART Modified Tour hosting its season finale on October 19 as well. Friday will serve as a practice and qualifying day for the CARS Tour, while Saturday will see both CARS Tour divisions and the SMART Modified Tour crown champions with all three races taking place on Saturday evening.

And now the weekend will close out on Sunday, October 20, with the Brushy Mountain Powersports 150, which will now be the second-to-last race on the calendar for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. The Tour will cap off its season six days later at Virginia’s Martinsville Speedway on Saturday, October 26.

That means that the next race on tap for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour is the World Series 150 at Connecticut’s Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park on Sunday, October 13. Two-time and defending NWMT champion Ron Silk heads to Thompson with an 11-point lead over three-time champion, Justin Bonsignore, and a 16-point lead over the Tour’s most recent winner, Patrick Emerling.
