    Luke Baldwin, the 2024 SMART Modified Tour champion, has signed a deal to make his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut in the No. 66 Ford F-150 for ThorSport Racing at Martinsville Speedway on Friday, March 28, the team announced Thursday. Baldwin told FloRacing that he signed a three-race deal with his remaining two races still to be announced.

    Towards the end of the 2024 season, Modified veteran Jimmy Blewett was competing full-time on the SMART Modified Tour when he began to have abdominal pain. The discomfort increased and before the season finale at North Wilkesboro Speedway in North Carolina, the Howell, New Jersey driver went to the doctors. It was determined that he had an intestinal infection known as diverticulitis. The degree in which the condition had progressed required surgery.

    Three-time SMART Modified Tour powered by Pace-O-Matic champion Burt Myers scored his first win of 2024, in the Battle of SOBO, on Hitachi Energy Power-Up Raceday, Saturday at South Boston Speedway in Virginia. Myers, from Walnut Cove, NC, took the lead for the second and last time during a restart on lap 86 from Mike Speeney, from Newtown, PA. The Citrusafe Grill Cleaners number-1 then held off Ryan Newman, from South Bend, IN, and Jake Crum, from Statesville, NC, for the victory, his first at the southern Virginia race track.

The race will now take place on Sunday, October 20 at the famed short track in the North Carolina foothills and will now become the penultimate race on the 2024 calendar.
