NASCAR and Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park have postponed this weekend’s NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event due to a forecast of continued rain and cold temperatures forecasted for Sunday. The race has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 5. The start time will be announced at a later date.

After more than a month off, the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour is set to brush the dust off and help break the ice on the racing season in the northeast. NASCAR’s oldest division heads to one of the oldest tracks in the country, Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park in Thompson, Connecticut, for the annual Icebreaker 150.

By now you’ve probably seen the video of Jack Baldwin and Jake Crum crashing in Saturday’s “King of the Modifieds” for the SMART Modified Tour at South Boston Speedway. By now you’ve probably seen Crum and Baldwin’s pushing match. And by now you’ve probably seen Tommy Baldwin Jr., Jack’s father, car owner, and crew chief, screaming at Crum and anyone else who tried to get in his way. But did you see what caused all of this? A strong field of more than 30 modifieds are headed to southern Virginia for Saturday’s King of the Modifieds spectacular at South Boston Speedway. The 125-lap race pays $20,000 to win, but more importantly, the victor becomes royalty in the modified community, with the reading of a declaration and the reward of a king’s crown and cloak with the SMART Modified Tour powered by Pace-O-Matic.

The second running of the SMART Modified Tour’s “King of the Modifieds” at South Boston Speedway is just days away. The first edition proved to be unpredictable as a young gun upstaged the old guard to claim the crown and the throne. What will happen this year? Well, we’re all going to find out together. Luke Baldwin, the 2024 SMART Modified Tour champion, has signed a deal to make his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut in the No. 66 Ford F-150 for ThorSport Racing at Martinsville Speedway on Friday, March 28, the team announced Thursday. Baldwin told FloRacing that he signed a three-race deal with his remaining two races still to be announced.

MOORESVILLE, N.C. – Carter McMurray, 14, will compete full-time in the 2025 SMART Modified Tour powered by Pace-O-Matic. Driving the No. 40 PSR Products Chevrolet, he aims to follow in the footsteps of his father, Daytona 500 champion Jamie McMurray, and build a future in racing.

Towards the end of the 2024 season, Modified veteran Jimmy Blewett was competing full-time on the SMART Modified Tour when he began to have abdominal pain. The discomfort increased and before the season finale at North Wilkesboro Speedway in North Carolina, the Howell, New Jersey driver went to the doctors. It was determined that he had an intestinal infection known as diverticulitis. The degree in which the condition had progressed required surgery.
