Ron Silk Scores First Riverhead Raceway NASCAR Modified Tour Victory
2011 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion finally scored his first victory at Long Island's Riverhead Raceway.
It took a long time, but in his 24th start at Riverhead Raceway, Ron Silk finally found his way to victory lane. Silk scored his second win of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season on Saturday night in the Miller Lite Salutes Mike Ewanitsko 200 at Riverhead Raceway, holding off 10-time Riverhead winner, Justin Bonsignore. In doing so, Silk extended his points lead over Bonsignore. Silk entered the night with just a four-point margin over Bonsignore.
Winning Quote From Riverhead Raceway
"I feel like we probably had the car to beat last time we were here and I got beat on those last restarts. Luckily we didn't have to face that again. Again my guys brought a great car. This is cool. This is special to me. I won a championship driving for Eddie Partridge and this is his track. Obviously we all wish he was still around and we all miss him. And I'm honored to win a race that they honored Mike Ewanitsko. I heard them say that he did enough to be recognized, but I think he did more than enough." - Ron Silk
