Ryan Preece Announces Modified Plans For Speedweeks At New Smyrna
Ryan Preece announced that he will compete during four nights of Modified racing during the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway.
After a year away, Ryan Preece will make his return to the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway for four nights of Tour-Type Modified racing in February.
Preece's Florida Speedweeks will begin on Saturday, February 10 with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour New Smyrna Beach Area Visitors Bureau 200. He will also run 50-lap races on February 12-13 before ending his New Smyrna run in the Richie Evans Memorial 100 on Friday, February 16.
Preece’s racing schedule at the World Series will coincide with Daytona 500 festivities just down the road at Daytona International Speedway. Qualifying for NASCAR’s biggest race is Wednesday night, with the Duels scheduled for Thursday. He will practice at Daytona on Friday before heading to New Smyrna for the Richie Evans Memorial.
The Stewart-Haas Racing driver has been a fixture at the World Series ever since he made his first trip to Florida in 2005. He’s won three Tour-Type Modified World Series titles and 12 races overall, plus another win in Florida Modified competition.
Preece last contested the World Series in 2022, when he made his New Smyrna debut in the Super Late Model class. He finished second in two of the four races he competed in that week, one of them coming in the Orange Blossom 100 to end the week. His last Modified start came during the 2021 World Series, when he won the John Blewett III Memorial from 37th after qualifying his way into the Daytona 500 that night.
The 2024 World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing kicks off this Friday, February 9, at 7:30 p.m. ET. All nine nights of racing, including the season openers for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour on Saturday, February 10, and the ASA STARS National Tour on Tuesday, February 13, will be streamed live on FloRacing.
