Loaded Monaco Modifieds Entry List Headed To Haunted Hundred At Waterford
Take a look at the massive Monaco Modifieds entry list for Saturday's Haunted Hundred at New London-Waterford Speedbowl.
The Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series is back in action on Saturday night at the challenging New London-Waterford Speedbowl, with a massive entry list ready to take part in the Constantine Paving and Sealing Haunted Hundred. More than 40 cars are set to do battle at the Southeastern Connecticut bullring.
While this was expected to be the final location for the championship battle, it is now the penultimate race of the season due to the Fall Final at Stafford Motor Speedway being rescheduled to after the Constantine Paving and Sealing Haunted Hundred.
Headlining the entry list, as he does any time he’s entered for a race, is Northampton, Pennsylvania’s Matt Hirschman. The driver from Mud Lane is the current points leader by just 10 markers over Stafford Springs, Connecticut’s Woody Pitkat. Surprisingly, Hirschman has just one victory this season, which came at the series’ most recent race at Waterford back in August.
That brings us to Pitkat, the driver of the No. 88 owned by Doug Dunleavy. Pitkat has yet to find his way to victory lane this season, but he’s been remarkably consistent. Pitkat has scored two top-five finishes and three top-10 finishes. Pitkat finished seventh here at Waterford back in August.
There have been four winners in four races for the Monaco Modifieds so far this season, and all four are entered in Saturday’s 100-lap throwdown. We’ve already mentioned Hirschman, but he is joined on the entry list by Matt Swanson, Ronnie Williams, and Jake Johnson as the four previous winners this season.
Swanson, who won at Seekonk Speedway in the annual Open Wheel Wednesday show back in June, is currently third in points, 17 markers behind Hirschman. Swanson struggled a bit at Waterford in August, finishing just outside the top 10 in the 11th position. On the season Swanson has finished in the top five twice in four races.
Williams sits fourth in points, 25 points back of Hirschman. Williams opened the season with a victory at Vermont’s Thunder Road International Speedbowl, but that victory is his only top-five finish of the season. Williams has finished in the top 10 three times, and finished ninth at Waterford in August.
Johnson went to victory lane in July’s Star Speedway 100 at New Hampshire’s Star Speedway, holding off Pitkat to take the victory. Johnson is ninth in points having only started three of the four races so far this season.
Also on the entry list is the driver with the most victories in the history of the New London-Waterford Speedbowl, Berlin, Connecticut’s Keith Rocco. Rocco has 154 victories across all divisions at the Speedbowl, including 93 wins in SK Modified competition. That said, Rocco finished 15th in August’s Monaco Modifieds race at Waterford.
