Making his first start since last year’s Topless 100, the Batesville, Ark., native and son of Double L Motorsports team owner Lance Landers finished sixth in the preliminary feature to guarantee his starting spot in the 31st annual Topless 100.

Dale McDowell couldn’t help becoming a little sentimental after winning Saturday night’s 41st annual Comp Cams Topless 100 at Batesville Motor Speedway.

Returning to glory in a crown jewel event he won for the first time in 2004, Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, Ga., grabbed the lead from Jonathan Davenport on lap 35 and was flawless the remainder of the distance to capture Saturday night’s 41st annual Comp Cams Topless 100 at Batesville Motor Speedway. The 57-year-old veteran beat Davenport to the finish line by 0.303 of a second for the $50,000 first-place prize.

Powering around the outside of Jonathan Davenport on lap 17, second-starting Ricky Thornton Jr. of Chandler, Ariz., outlasted several late-race restarts and led the final 14 laps to win Friday's $5,000 Comp Cams Topless 100 preliminary feature at Batesville Motor Speedway. Thornton tallied his 15th career Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series victory and his series-best 11th full-field win of the season.

A country boy from Georgia beat his heroes on the big stage Thursday night in Wheatland, Missouri. In his SRX debut, Jonathan Davenport survived a fierce challenge from Clint Bowyer to win the series' season finale at Lucas Oil Speedway.
