The 42nd annual Topless 100 at Batesville Motor Speedway had its opening night Friday at the Locust Grove, Ark., clay leading into Saturday's 100-lap, $50,000-to-win finale.

Ricky Thornton led from start to finish — all 29 laps of the $5,000 preliminary feature that was cut short by a lap because of stormy weather — for the victory over reigning Topless 100 winner Dale McDowell.

Tim McCreadie, Mike Marlar and Hudson O'Neal rounded out the top-five. Billy Moyer, driving a second No. 21 entry for Double L Motorsports as a teammate to Jonathan Davenport, started 22nd and finished 18th.
