New England Supermodified Series Debuts Friday At Thunder Road
The New England Supermodified Series will host its first race ever Friday night at Thunder Road Speedbowl.
Barre, VT — Fans are about to get a rare first-time opportunity at Thunder Road International Speedbowl this Friday night with the world debut of the New England Supermodified Series (NESS). This will be the first time these insanely fast, winged beasts have ever taken on the ‘Nation’s Site of Excitement.’ The quick-75-lap main event for the NESS Supermodifieds will join the 75-lap Round One for the Myers Container Service Flying Tiger Triple Crown Series, building a night of close contact, high drama point-battles to start their championship bids.
Excitement has brewed all off-season since Pro All Stars Series (PASS) President Tom Mayberry announced his plans for a more locally, New England-based Supermodified series. Recent testing by Hoosier Tire East owner Rob Summers and former Modified Racing Series champion Anthony Nocella proved that lightning speeds would be the norm and their 75-lap sprint will be a show unlike anything Central Vermont race fans have ever witnessed at The Road.
Alongside the Supers, the ‘Number One Support Division in North America’ is ready for their first extra-distance event of 2022 with Round One of the Myers Container Service Triple Crown Series. The Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers will contest this “championship-within-a-championship" for the sixth consecutive season that has yet to have a repeat champion, speaking to the level of competition within the longstanding division.
Justin Prescott started off the year with his first ever Flying Tiger win and followed it up on Memorial Day weekend with a strong 5th place finish. Prescott has quickly become an easy dark horse candidate against the likes of former Triple Crown champions Mike Martin and Jason Woodard. All told, these 75-lap Myers events always lend themselves to unpredictability and Friday will certainly be no different!
Barre, Vermont’s Thunder Road starts the 2022 summer season on Friday, June 10th with the first leg of the Myers Container Service Flying Tiger Triple Crown Series plus the debut of the New England Supermodified Series (NESS).
