Continuing to develop unique marketing and promotional relationships Professional Racers Owners Organization (PRO), the driving force behind the 2nd annual SCAG Power Equipment Superstar Shootout, February 6-8, 2025, today announced a wide-ranging cross-promotional program focusing on media exposure and racing exhibitions with Sick the Mag. The PRO Superstar Shootout will highlight select drag-and-drive competitors in exhibition races during the star-studded three-day event. Sick the Mag will promote the Superstar Shootout during Sick Week from January 27 - February 1, 2025, encouraging fans and participants to attend the event. The two organizations hope to highlight the unique aspects of each of their events to new audiences highlighting the future of hot rodding and drag racing entertainment. Plans are also in the works for additional driver engagements between the two organizations around the upcoming PRI Show in December.

“We are looking to continue to create a disruptive and fun event for the drag racing and motorsports fan base with the PRO Superstar Shootout, so joining forces with Sick the Mag made perfect sense,” said Scott Woodruff, PRO Board Member. “Sick the Mag has been on the cutting edge of the drag-and-drive phenomenon for years. They have developed a passionate following and we would like to tap into that group and introduce them to the PRO Superstar Shootout drag race.”

As a magazine and event series Sick the Mag is dedicated to drag-and-drive enthusiasts and high-horsepower street cars. Drag-and-drive is arguably the highest growth niche in drag racing today. As the name suggests, competitors drag race in street legal cars at tracks before driving on public roads to get to the next track, all without a transporter or support crew. While the quickest cars can average in the six-second zone for a week-long event, the sport is also incredibly accessible and is introducing a significant number of newcomers to drag racing.

Sick the Mag aims to represent the drag-and-drive community by featuring talented people who report on events. Founded by Tom Bailey and Luke Nieuwhof, it is a 212-page high quality publication filled with unique stories and amazing photography that's more like a book than a magazine. Sick the Mag also hosts drag-and-drive events including Sick Week, Sick Summer, Sick Michigan Miles and Sick Smokies.

“This is a cool opportunity to mix the drag-and-drive community and the 335 mph drag racing fan base,” said Tom Bailey, Sick the Mag founder. “We have a killer magazine and amazing events so highlighting the stars and wild aspects of the PRO Superstar Shootout is a great opportunity for us. I think our drivers and fans dig seeing cool race cars doing cool things and that is what the PRO Superstar Shootout is all about. This isn’t the cookie cutter national event, and you’ll see Top Fuel versus Funny Car as well as crazy match ups in eliminations. We are looking forward to being a part of the event on the track as well.”

The successful format of last year’s PRO Superstar Shootout will carry over in 2025 with already announced returning sponsors SCAG Power Equipment, Red Line Oil, PPG, and Hangsterfers. After qualifying on Thursday and Friday, the elimination round matchups of the 8-car field on Saturday will be determined by a chip draw, a feature that is unique to the SCAG PRO Superstar Shootout. The higher qualified drivers will draw chips with competitor names to determine first-round match ups. Subsequent rounds will also be decided by random draws, giving fans and teams a thrill of uncertainty and excitement as the race day progresses. Additionally, Top Fuel and Funny Car will face off in a fan-favorite Top Fuel versus Funny Car Chicago Style race.

The event will feature autograph sessions, driver Q&A’s and additional fan-friendly entertainment elements. The PRO Superstar Shootout will once again be broadcast on FloRacing all three days. Additional announcements including sponsors and schedule of events, including open testing on Thursday, February 6, will be announced shortly at www.prosuperstarshootout.com.
