Entry List Approaching 50 For Vermont Milk Bowl At Thunder Road
Nearly 50 American-Canadian Tour Late Model teams have filed entries for the 2024 Vermont Milk Bowl at Thunder Road Speedbowl.
Barre, VT — The Thunder Road Speedbowl office in Barre has been buzzing with preparation for the 62nd running of the Vermont Milk Bowl presented by Northfield Savings Bank, October 5-6 at the Nation’s Site of Excitement. Forty-nine American-Canadian Tour Late Model teams have thrown their respective hats in the ring for ‘The Toughest Short Track Stock Car Race in North America’ with an exciting $104,000 purse awaiting the two-day pinnacle of racing in the Green Mountain State.
It all starts with Booth Bros/Hood Milk Bowl Qualifying Day on Saturday, October 5 with the once-a-year time trials for the Maplefield/Irving Late Models. Each driver will take on the high-banks for two laps at speed in a fight for the $1,000 Booth Bros/Hood Milk Bowl Pole Award with $500 going to the second-fastest driver to lock in Sunday’s front row. Time trials also set up Saturday’s ‘Triple 50’ heat race qualifiers with the top-10 in each heat receiving a piece of the $4,300 individual heat race purse.
Sunday’s 62nd Vermont Milk Bowl presented by Northfield Savings Bank is the grand-daddy of them all. The first 50-lap segment is lined-up by qualified cars from Saturday’s time trials and heat races with Sunday’s B-Feature winner tagging on the tail. Segment two and three are both aligned by inverting the finish of the previous segment with drivers earning points based on finishing position in each segment. Each segment also features $5,000 in lap leader money distributed among the top-three runners in each individual lap of the Vermont Milk Bowl. The driver with the lowest combined score will earn the 62nd Vermont Milk Bowl and kiss the genuine Vermont beauty queen dairy cow in victory lane.
The Vermont Milk Bowl pays $1,100 to start with $12,000 earmarked for the victor. Two special bonuses are also available for the winner starting with a $10,000 check for the driver that completes a perfect xcore of just three points by winning all three segments. The feat has only happened three times since 1962, most recently with Robbie Crouch’s perfect run in 1986 to join Dave Dion’s 1975 run and Larry Demar’s 1967 dominance. The second available bonus will pay $5,000 to the winner should they win with a score of 4 or 5 points which was accomplished most recently by Brian Hoar in 1998.
Among those already entered in the 62nd running of the Vermont Milk Bowl presented by Northfield Savings Bank are 2024 King of the Road Kaiden Fisher, defending Milk Bowl champion Stephen Donahue and former Milk Bowl winners John Donahue and Christopher Pelkey. The American-Canadian Tour sends point leader Gabe Brown, former ACT champions DJ Shaw and Jimmy Hebert, Serie ACT Quebec champion Raphael Lessard and last year’s fast-time polesitter Derek Gluchacki to highlight the early entry list for one of New England’s most prestigious stock car racing events.
The Nation’s Site of Excitement returns to action on Saturday and Sunday, October 5 and 6 for the 62nd running of the Vermont Milk Bowl presented by Northfield Savings Bank. Mark your calendars today for the ‘Toughest Short Track Stock Car Race in North America’ the first weekend in October starting with Booth Bros/Hood Qualifying Day on Saturday, October 5 that also features the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Models, Modifieds and the New England Supermodified Series. Sunday, October 6 is headlined by the 62nd Vermont Milk Bowl presented by Northfield Savings Bank with some of New England and Quebec’s greatest drivers looking to kiss the cow in victory lane.
