Four NASCAR Truck Series Starts Announced For Corey Day
High Limit Racing standout Corey Day will make his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut at Bristol Motor Speedway on Thursday.
High Limit Racing standout Corey Day will be making his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut this week at Bristol Motor Speedway, it was announced Monday, as he looks to take the next steps on his journey towards the NASCAR Cup Series.
The 18-year-old Sprint Car phenom will be racing for Bill McAnally at McAnally-Hilgemann Racing in four NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series events, beginning this Thursday night on the high banks of Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee. Day will also be doing double-duty on Thursday night as he will make his second ARCA Menards Series start earlier that evening.
Following Day's debut on Thursday, he will then head up to the famous Eldora Speedway for two nights of action in the 4 Crown Nationals for High Limit Racing in his Sprint Car.
Day will pilot a No. 81 truck for MHR at Bristol on Thursday and at Martinsville Speedway on Friday, November 1. He will drive the No. 91 for MHR at Kansas Speedway on Friday, September 27, and at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Saturday, October 26.
“I’m excited to make my start in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series,” Day said in the HMR press release. “I haven’t made many non-dirt racing starts, but I’m ready to begin learning more about this type of racing. I know I will face some challenges, but I feel confident in my ability to learn and I know that I have great support behind me with HendrickCars.com and McAnally-Hilgemann Racing. I just hope to represent them well.”
The Clovis, California driver, who most recently won his second Gold Cup Race of Champions title at Silver Dollar Speedway, began his transition to pavement in style earlier this year. Day ran a JR Motorsports prepared Late Model Stock Car in a doubleheader at North Carolina’s Hickory Motor Speedway. Day finished sixth in the first race and won the second race in just his second ever pavement race. Day then made his ARCA Menards Series debut at Indiana’s Salem Speedway, but crashed out while battling for second.
“We can’t wait to see what Corey can do in one of our Chevrolet Silverados,” said team owner Bill McAnally in the HMR press release. “It’s clear to see the raw talent and speed that he has in a Sprint Car, and we’re excited to help him get acclimated to NASCAR racing. Corey has shown to be a quick learner in his career, and we’re looking forward to him joining our team in these four races.”
