There were times in the last few years where Landon Huffman thought his racing career would be over. There were times when he thought he'd be lucky to just be a weekly racer. There were plenty of times where he thought he'd never get the chance to prove what he could do on a big stage like the CARS Tour. There were also times where Huffman knew if he could just be given a chance that he could show everyone he belongs at the highest level of Late Model Stock Car racing. 

On Saturday night at Tri-County Speedway, Huffman finally got his chance to prove it. Huffman, who took over the Nelson Motorsports No. 22 in May, drove his way into CARS Tour victory lane for the first time in his career, scoring the $30,000 check as winner of the Old North State Nationals.

"I think that means everything. I worked really hard to try to gain the respect of everybody out here. I'm a little older now. I grew up racing around guys that were a lot older than me. The tools of the trade were different then. I feel like we're kind of transitioning into a new period. The racing is a lot rougher. Especially when you come to a place like this where it's so hard to pass.
