Ross Chastain And Daniel Suarez Enter CARS Tour Event At North Wilkesboro
Trackhouse Racing teammates Ross Chastain and Daniel Suarez are the latest NASCAR Cup Series drivers to enter the CARS Tour's event at North Wilkesboro.
The CARS Tour’s return to the legendary North Wilkesboro Speedway next week just continues to get bigger and bigger. The CARS Tour Late Model Stock Car entry list is already littered with NASCAR Cup Series talent like Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kevin Harvick, and Chase Briscoe. Well now we can add two more names to that list as Trackhouse Racing goes Late Model racing.
Trackhouse Racing announced Friday that both of its Cup Series drivers, Ross Chastain and Daniel Suarez, will be piloting Late Models on Wednesday, May 17 at the historic 0.625-mile oval in the foothills of the Carolina mountains.
Suarez will be racing in his familiar No. 99 with Jockey, one of his Cup Series sponsors, on a car prepared by R and S Race Cars as a teammate to three-time CARS Tour champion Bobby McCarty, and Conner Jones.

The Monterrey, Mexico has never been to North Wilkesboro or driven a Late Model Stock Car but he said, “it’s going to be a lot of fun going short track racing.” Suarez became the first Mexican-born driver to win a NASCAR Cup Series race last June at California’s Sonoma Raceway.
Wednesday’s CARS Tour race isn’t Suarez’s only Late Model action for the week, though. He’ll also be racing a Super Late Model for Rackley W.A.R. in the ASA STARS National Tour’s 150-lap feature.
Chastain, Suarez’s Trackhouse Racing teammate, will also be racing in Wednesday’s CARS Tour race. Instead of his familiar No. 1, Chastain will be behind the wheel of a Pinnacle Racing Group prepared No. 28 sponsored by Ambetter Health.
Unlike Suarez, Chastain does have Late Model experience. He’s a three-time winner at New Smyrna Speedway’s World Series of Asphalt in a Limited Late Model. He’s also made a handful of starts in the old ASA’s Southern Division with a best finish of sixth in 2009 according to TheThirdTurn.com. However, Wednesday’s CARS Tour race will be Chastain’s first in a Late Model Stock Car.

Chastain and Suarez join NASCAR Hall of Famer and CARS Tour co-owner Dale Earnhardt Jr, 2014 Cup Series champion and CARS Tour co-owner Kevin Harvick, and current NASCAR Cup Series competitor Chase Briscoe in the CARS Tour Late Model Stock field for Wednesday night.
The CARS Tour is expected to announce its full roster for both divisions at North Wilkesboro Speedway on Tuesday evening and a few more Cup Series stars are expected to be on the list.
Suarez joins William Byron, Noah Gragson and Erik Jones, as well as Grant Enfinger, Ty Majeski, and Carson Hocevar as some of the NASCAR talent entered in the stacked ASA STARS National Tour field for Tuesday night’s race.
Tickets for both nights of Late Model action at North Wilkesboro Speedway are still available.
