Strong Fields Entered For CARS Tour Doubleheader At Ace Speedway
The CARS Tour is once again bringing a massive field of cars to the race track for Friday's doubleheader at Ace Speedway.
For the second race in a row, the CARS Tour Late Model Stock Car series boasts an entry list with more than 30 cars as the series goes bullring racing at Altamahaw, North Carolina’s Ace Speedway.
Between both CARS Tour divisions, the Late Model Stocks and the Pro Late Models, there’s nearly 60 cars entered for the second race in a row. The CARS Tour had massive car counts for both divisions last time out at Hickory Motor Speedway.
The biggest story to note when looking at the Late Model Stock division’s entry list is a different name next to the No. 22 car. After failing to make the race at Hickory last time out, and failing to post a top-10 finish in his first two feature starts in the Nelson Autosport car, Cale Gale has been replaced by the reigning Hickory Motor Speedway track champion, Landon Huffman. Huffman will be in the car on Friday night at Ace Speedway and for the rest of the 2023 CARS Tour season.
The most recent winner with the CARS Tour at Ace Speedway is also entered, and that is Kaden Honeycutt out of Willow Park, Texas. Honeycutt dominated the race in a second Nelson Autosport entry last October, leading 88 of the 125 laps.
That leads us to the next driver we wanted to spotlight, and that is Statesville, North Carolina’s Ryan Millington. Only one other driver led a lap in last October’s trip to Ace, and that was Millington who led a total of 37 laps. Millington is one of only three drivers on the entry list that have gone to CARS Tour victory lane at Ace Speedway with his win coming back in 2020.
One of the two other drivers on the entry list to win a CARS Tour Late Model Stock race at Ace Speedway is Summerfield, North Carolina’s Bobby McCarty. The three-time series champion won back in 2018. Ace is one of McCarty’s best race tracks on the schedule as he also has finishes of fourth, second, and fifth at the 3/8-mile oval.
And the final driver to visit victory lane at Ace after a CARS Tour LMSC race is the reigning NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series national champion, Layne Riggs. The Bahama, North Carolina native absolutely dominated back in May of 2021. Riggs led all but one of the 125 laps run that night.
Eden Prairie, Minnesota’s William Sawalich has also won a CARS Tour race at Ace Speedway, but not in a Late Model Stock Car. Sawalich won the Pro Late Model feature at Ace last August with a wire-to-wire run. The teenaged phenom led all 75 laps on the way to his fourth of six CARS Tour Pro Late Model victories in 2022.
The CARS Tour Late Model Stock Car and Pro Late Model divisions will both be in action Friday night as part of the AcceleratedGFX.com 315 at Ace Speedway. Race fans can catch all of the action on Friday night live on FloRacing with a FloRacing subscription. Cans can subscribe by clicking here.
