The inaugural Drag Illustrated Winter Series presented by J&A Service will reach its dramatic finale this weekend when the series crowns its first-ever champion at the Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod, Feb. 27-March 1, at Bradenton Motorsports Park. More than 80 Pro Mod drivers from across North America and beyond will compete for the $150,000-to-win event title, while a select few racers are in contention for the $25,000 championship bonus after the first two races of the series.

Spencer Hyde entered the 2023 Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod as a relative unknown on the national Pro Modified scene. He had success in his native Canada, but his 2023 victory over Kurt Steding in the $100,000 final round put him on an international pedestal. He’s since continued to prove his driving prowess by picking up a PDRA Pro Boost win in one of the class’s toughest fields, and he’s climbed the ranks by competing in NHRA Top Fuel with the license he earned just days before his WSOPM win.

For the second and third years, respectively, the Pro 10.5 Challenge and the Mountain Motor Pro Stock Invitational will join Pro Modified in the World Series of Pro Mod lineup at Bradenton Motorsports Park. Like Pro Mod, both supporting classes are expecting their largest fields yet, with both competing for $25,000 winner-take-all paydays. Canadian Drag Racer, Spencer Hyde, completed his licensing process and becomes the most recent licensed NHRA Funny Car Driver. Head Racing and Spencer were one of a handful of teams that were at Gainesville Raceway for a pre-season test session this weekend. Head and Hyde attended this session with hopes of making enough successful passes to obtain a cross-over license. Hyde is already licensed and has competed in Top Fuel and Pro Mod, but had never driven a Funny Car before the test session began on Friday.

Driving his steel-roof-and-quarters ’85 Camaro, Kelley fired off a stunning 3.594-second pass at 207.78 MPH in the M&M Transmission Outlaw Pro Mod presented by FuelTech and PJS Racing final round to defeat Ken Quartuccio and his 3.688 at 194.66 in the first race of the three-race inaugural Drag Illustrated Winter Series presented by J&A Service.

The highly anticipated 2024-25 Drag Illustrated Winter Series presented by J&A Service promises to elevate the competitive landscape of Pro Mod drag racing. The three-race championship series, contested exclusively at the legendary Bradenton Motorsports Park, will see drivers battling for the first-ever Drag Illustrated Winter Series Points Championship, culminating in the prestigious World Series of Pro Mod (WSOPM) with points-and-a-half awarded during eliminations.
