Drag Illustrated Winter Series Introduces Points Championship

The highly anticipated 2024-25 Drag Illustrated Winter Series presented by J&A Service promises to elevate the competitive landscape of Pro Mod drag racing. The three-race championship series, contested exclusively at the legendary Bradenton Motorsports Park, will see drivers battling for the first-ever Drag Illustrated Winter Series Points Championship, culminating in the prestigious World Series of Pro Mod (WSOPM) with points-and-a-half awarded during eliminations.

With over $275,000 in purse money up for grabs across the three events and an additional $25,000 prize for the series champion, this inaugural championship is designed to bring out the best in Pro Mod competitors. To sweeten the pot, the points champion will also receive a custom-designed championship ring by Jostens, underscoring the prestige of this groundbreaking series.

“It's been amazing to see the evolution of our Drag Illustrated-produced events,” said Wes Buck, Founder and Editorial Director of Drag Illustrated. “What started out as a once-a-year happening has evolved into a three-race championship series that is going to produce some of the most competitive drag racing in the history of our sport.”

The Drag Illustrated Winter Series kicks off with the Snowbird Outlaw Nationals presented by Motion Raceworks, continues with the U.S. Street Nationals presented by M&M Transmission, and culminates with the World Series of Pro Mod, where championship points will be awarded at an elevated scale. Drivers will accrue points for qualifying, elimination round victories, and participation, ensuring that consistency and performance across all three events are rewarded.

This series represents a pivotal moment for Pro Mod racing, placing it squarely in the spotlight. Buck shared his vision for the series, emphasizing its significance.

“It's been our mission with the World Series of Pro Mod and now the Drag Illustrated Winter Series to demonstrate that Pro Mod drag racing is a marquee attraction, deserving of top billing,” Buck said. “Over the next three months at Bradenton Motorsports Park, we're going to make that clear.”

The series highlights cars that still look like cars and drivers who embody the outlaw spirit of drag racing. This ethos has resonated with fans and competitors alike, creating an atmosphere that is both electrifying and accessible.

“None of this would be possible without the support of J&A Service and our incredible family of sponsors, as well as the participation of this equally incredible group of Pro Mod racers,” Buck continued. “These men and women are helping us chart a new course for this sport, and we couldn’t be more excited to crown our first-ever champion this February.”

Drivers will earn points for qualifying positions, elimination round victories, and participation, with additional emphasis placed on performance at the WSOPM through points-and-a-half scoring. Details of the comprehensive points system can be found on the Drag Illustrated Winter Series website at www.TheWinterSeries.com.

The Drag Illustrated Winter Series is more than just a collection of races; it is a season-defining championship that ensures drag racing fans and competitors have an action-packed offseason to remember.

“I love the seasonality of this event series and the opportunity this time of year provides,” Buck added. “We’ll have the attention of the drag racing masses as we work towards crowning our inaugural champion.”
