NHRA Funny Car World Champion Ron Capps escaped from his car following a massive explosion Sunday during the NHRA Northwest Nationals.The explosion occurred during an exciting pedal fest against Gary Densham in Round 1 of eliminations.

Elite Motorsports Pro Stock driver Aaron Stanfield suffered a massive engine at the NHRA Route 66 Nationals. The failure happened just as he crossed the finish line after winning the first round of eliminations against Fernando Cuadra Jr. Stanfield had a reaction time of .002 and made a solid pass before the failure occurred. He quickly exited the vehicle and walked away unscathed, while his car was not so lucky.

NHRA Pro Stock driver, Camrie Caruso was involved in a single car, top end incident last weekend at the NHRA Arizona Nationals at Firebird Motorsports Park. Caruso made contact with both walls after she aborted the run in the final qualifying attempt. She was conscious and out of the car at the top end, but was sent to a local hospital for further evaluation where a broken leg was confirmed.

Multi-time U.S. Street Nationals presented by M&M Transmission winner Ken Quartuccio scored his first Pro Mod class win at the long-running event Sunday night at Bradenton Motorsports Park. In the Outlaw Pro Mod presented by FuelTech and PJS Racing final round, Quartuccio used a 3.652-second pass at 204.35 mph to defeat Raymond Matos and his 3.677 at 202.67 to collect the trophy and the $32,000 check.
