It's Modified Week At The East Bay Winternationals
Four consecutive nights of UMP Modified action at East Bay Raceway Park begins Wednesday night during week two of the 2022 Winternationals.
It may be cold in many areas of the country but it's race season in the state of Florida.
Week two of the 46th Annual Winternationals begins Wednesday night when UMP Modifieds invade East Bay Raceway Park for four straight nights of racing.
(Editor's Note: This story has been updated to reflect the cancelation of Tuesday night's racing due to persistant rain showers.)
Traditionally, Modified week features some of the highest car counts witnessed during the month-long extravaganza known as the Winternationals. Last year, nearly 50 Modifieds from 13 different states arrived at the 1/3-mile dirt oval in Tampa, Florida.
This year's Modified week will feature four nights of racing with the stakes growing as the week progresses. On Wednesday night, drivers will be racing for $1,000 to win before the winner's check grows to $1,500 for Thursday and Friday. This all leads up to the 75-lap, $5,000-to-win main event on Saturday night.
Drivers competing in this year's Winternationals Modified Week will be chasing two-time defending champion Kevin Adams. With two wins a year ago, including the 75-lap finale, Adams scored his second consecutive Winternationals championship.
Pennsylvania driver Drake Troutman challenged Adams by scoring two win as well but it wasn't enough to dethrone the champion. Lucas Lee joined Adams and Troutman as winners during last year's event.
In addition to the UMP/EBRP Modifieds, Top Gun Sprints will join the fun for three nights of racing beginning Thursday night.
Those unable to make it to East Bay Raceway Park this week will be able to watch all four nights of racing live on FloRacing. If you're not already a subscriber, you can become one today by clicking here.
