Mother Nature Strikes Castrol FloRacing Night In America
Poor forecast forces cancelation of Castrol FloRacing Night in America season finale at Tri-County Racetrack.
BRASSTOWN, N.C. — Mother Nature has struck one final blow on the inaugural Castrol® FloRacing Night in America tour. Forecasts calling for persistent rain this Thursday and Friday at Tri-County Racetrack have forced track and series officials to postpone this week’s FK Rod Ends Tarheel 50 presented by Jacky Jones Automotive Group at the North Carolina bullring.
“We’ve been hoping that the forecast would improve, but for the past few days it just keeps getting worse, and they are now calling for 70-90% chance of rain both Thursday and Friday. With such a dismal outlook we don’t want to waste anybody’s time or money. As a result, we’ve decided to postpone the FK Rod Ends Tarheel 50 presented by Jacky Jones Automotive Group. While we know we won’t be able to have the Castrol Series back this year, we are evaluating possible reschedule dates for the event, and we’ll make those details available ASAP,” said track promoter, Ray Cook. “It’s a tough situation, but you can’t control the weather.”

This marks the second time the 18th running of the event has been nixed by rain. The race’s original date on October 7 also fell victim to rain. With this week’s event being postponed, the 2021 season for the Castrol® FloRacing Night in America has officially drawn to a close.
Jonathan Davenport, who clinched the miniseries championship with a win last week at Volunteer Speedway, will receive $20,000 for the point’s title, while Kyle Larson earns $12,000 for second. Rounding out the Top 10 in the $62,500 total points payout is Mike Marlar ($6,000), Bobby Pierce ($5,000), Ryan King ($4,500), Tanner English ($4,000), Hudson O’Neal ($3,500), Tyler Erb ($3,000), Jimmy Owens ($2,500), and Brandon Sheppard ($2,000).
“I want to personally thank every driver, fan, sponsor, track, and series’ official who supported the inaugural season for the Castrol® FloRacing Night in America. It was definitely a challenge with Mother Nature accounting for almost a dozen reschedules and rainouts, but when we did get to race, we truly had some great events,” said series general manager, Ben Shelton. “We are elbows deep planning for the 2022 miniseries and look forward to some exciting news for the upcoming season.”
In total 136 drivers entered at least one of the seven events. Jonathan Davenport was the only repeat winner with victories at Tyler County Speedway and Volunteer Speedway, while single triumphs were recorded by Devin Moran (Atomic Speedway), Kyle Larson (Brownstown Speedway), Bobby Pierce (Tri-City Speedway), Brandon Sheppard (Fairbury Speedway), and Jimmy Owens (411 Motor Speedway).
