The Super Bowl of street car drag racing, the TX2K25, returns March 11-16 at the Texas Motorplex, featuring top drivers and high-powered machines across 14 competitive classes.

This year’s TX2K25 lineup includes:

  • Heavyweight
  • X58
  • GTR Unlimited Sportsman
  • GTR 68 Sportsman
  • DCT Elite, DCT Pro, DCT Champ Sportsman
  • Exhibition Pro
  • 2JZ vs. The World Pro
  • Street Car Elite, Street Car Pro, Street Car Champ, Street Car Sport Pro Tree
  • Stick Shift Pro

Qualifying begins Tuesday, March 11, leading into elimination rounds on Friday, March 14. The competition intensifies with Roll Race Eliminations before culminating in the final eliminations Sunday, March 16.

Every round of racing will be streamed live on FloRacing.

Here's what to know about each class.

Exhibition Class

The Exhibition Class is an unregulated division designed for record-breaking performances rather than competition. This class is home to shop cars, high-profile builds, and all-out performance machines aiming for the fastest elapsed times (ET) and highest speeds without running in elimination rounds. Participation is limited and requires approval from event director Peter B. Expect to see some of the quickest and most extreme cars pushing the boundaries of street and drag racing.

2JZ vs. The World

New for TX2K25, 2JZ vs. The World is an exclusive 16-car field featuring some of the most powerful street and race cars on the planet. With a minimum ET requirement of 7.399 seconds, only the fastest cars can enter. Strict tire, turbo, and chassis regulations keep the playing field competitive. The legendary 2JZ-powered machines will take on the world, with intense battles between turbocharged monsters aiming for supremacy.

DCT Class

The DCT (Dual-Clutch Transmission) Class showcases the best factory-equipped DCT performance cars like the Porsche 911 Turbo, McLaren, Huracan, R8, GTR, and GT500. Vehicles must retain full interior, OEM body panels, and factory glass, making it one of the most production-based classes at TX2K25. Nitrous and methanol fuel are banned, but turbo modifications are unrestricted within the category’s rules. The competition is divided into three tiers:

  • Elite – Top 16 qualifiers
  • Pro – 17-32 qualifiers
  • Champ – 33-48 qualifiers

A strict ET breakout rule applies to prevent excessive performance gaps, ensuring tight racing and fierce battles.

GTR 68

The GTR 68 class is designed exclusively for Nissan GTRs running stock-location turbos with a 68mm compressor inducer maximum. Nitrous is prohibited, and weight must meet a 3,550-pound minimum with driver. Safety remains a priority with engine and transmission diaper requirements. This is the ultimate battleground for highly modified GTRs looking for a level playing field with close, heads-up racing.

GTR Unlimited

For GTRs with no turbo size restrictions, the GTR Unlimited class is the fastest and most extreme division for Nissan’s flagship performance car. There is no minimum weight requirement, allowing for maximum performance and cutting-edge builds. Safety regulations include engine and transmission diaper requirements, but beyond that, the class is wide open for innovation. Expect to see record-breaking speeds and the most advanced GTR builds.

X58 Class

The X58 Class is dedicated to B58 and S58-powered vehicles from the MKV Supra and BMW lineup. To ensure fair competition, all cars must retain a stock chassis and use an original transmission case (A90, A91 Supra or BMW models). The internals of the transmission can be modified. With simple and clear-cut rules, this class will showcase some of the fastest turbocharged straight-six cars from Toyota and BMW in fierce head-to-head action.

Street Car Class

A fan-favorite at TX2K, the Street Car Class welcomes GTRs, Corvettes, Porsches, Vipers, Supras, Camaros, Mustangs, and more—as long as they meet the requirements of a true street-legal car. To qualify, vehicles must have valid registration, insurance, operational lights, and a functional cooling system. Tire rules restrict size to 30” x 11.5” or 315/60/15, with an exception for 17”+ wheels up to 355mm wide.

The competition is divided into four brackets based on qualifying times:

  • Elite – Top 16 qualifiers
  • Pro – 17-32 qualifiers
  • Champ – 33-48 qualifiers
  • Sport – 49-64 qualifiers

An ET breakout rule applies to prevent sandbagging, keeping the competition tight and unpredictable.

Stick Shift Challenge

For drivers who prefer the thrill of manually shifting gears, the Stick Shift Challenge is a pure H-pattern transmission showdown. No automatics or sequentials are allowed, and all cars must run a factory-based transmission. The minimum ET requirement is 8.999 seconds, ensuring only high-performance manual-shifted cars make the cut. This class delivers some of the most exciting and skill-dependent racing of the event.

Heavyweight Class

The Heavyweight Class is designed for big, powerful cars weighing at least 4,000 pounds with driver. No GTRs or Mustangs are allowed, and all entries must have a hood.

The class features three performance options:

  • Naturally aspirated or supercharged (including nitrous).
  • Single turbo (88mm max) with or without nitrous (+200 lb penalty).
  • Twin turbos (72mm max each) with or without nitrous (+200 lb penalty).

Street legality is required, with valid registration, license plates, insurance, and functional lights. DOT tires are mandatory. This class is all about massive power in street-legal heavyweights.

Each class at TX2K25 brings a unique challenge, showcasing the fastest, most innovative, and best-built street and race cars in the world. And every moment of action will be streamed live on FloRacing!
