A first-time Chili Bowl preliminary night winner emerged Wednesday night at the 2025 Chili Bowl. Emerson Axsom made his way by polesitter Daison Pursley early in the 30-lap feature and held off the field to score his first career Chili Bowl prelim night victory.

Pursley held off a charge from Corey Day, who started eighth, to finish second and earn a lock-in spot for Saturday's main event. 

After winning the Wednesday night prelim a year ago, Day finished third in his first race since announcing his driver development deal with Hendrick Motorsports. Tim Buckwalter and Kale Drake completed the top five. 

Axsom and Pursley join Kyle Larson, Shane Golobic, Landon Brooks and Brenham Crouch as drivers locked into Saturday's Chili Bowl main event.
