Toyota Racing Development driver Jade Avedisian announced Tuesday that she's stepping away from dirt racing the remainder of the 2024 season, citing that she's not fully healed from an injury sustained during Sept. 26-29's USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget-sanctioned BC39 at The Dirt Track at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

"It's with a heavy heart that I've decided to step away from dirt racing for the rest of the year," the 18-year-old Avedisian posted Tuesday evening on X. "I've been dealing with an injury since BC39 and despite working with amazing doctors, I need time to heal properly and avoid making things worse. It's been a very hard decision because l have so much love and passion for dirt racing but I need to get my body back to 100 percent.

"I can't express how much fun I have had the last few years and proud of what we have accomplished. I know I have years ahead of me and this is the best decision. Thank you."

Avedisian, who just last year signed a multiyear deal with Toyota Racing Development after becoming the first woman to win a national Midget title on the Xtreme Outlaw tour, has expanded her portfolio this year, entering into the pavement world with Wilson Motorsports' Late Model team and Nitro Motorsports' sports car on the Toyota GR Cup. She's also raced midgets nationally with Keith Kunz Motorsports renowned program on the USAC, Xtreme Outlaw and POWRi Midget scenes.

In 37 national Midget starts this year, Avedesian collected eight top-five finishes and 17 top-10 finishes.

Avedisian's 2024 highlights include a flag-to-flag win in just her second pavement Late Model start Nov. 9 at Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway's 100-lap Fall Brawl, a runner-up at the BC39, a runner-up in her first-ever pavement Late Model start at North Carolina's Orange County Speedway, and runner-up to Justin Grant in the Australian Speedcar Championship at Australia's Perth Motorplex in March.
