Everything You Need To Know: 2024 Fall Brawl At Hickory Motor Speedway

“The Birthplace of the NASCAR Stars” is set to run one of its biggest races of the season this weekend. The annual “Fall Brawl” will take place at North Carolina’s famous Hickory Motor Speedway on Saturday, November 9, and it’s live on FloRacing. So with that in mind, we wanted to make sure you races fans knew everything possible about this event in this edition of Everything You Need To Know.

What Makes Hickory Motor Speedway So Important?

Hickory Motor Speedway is one of the oldest weekly racing tracks in North Carolina, and has seen legend after legend pass through its gates and drive into victory lane. Every driver who races at Hickory has their eyes set on getting on “the wall.” You see, Hickory has the list of every champion of the track’s premier division on the wall at the front gate so everyone who enters the track is reminded of the legends that came before.

Forefathers of the sport like Ralph Earnhardt, Ned Jarrett, Junior Johnson, Harry Gant, Jack Ingram, and Bob Pressley are on the wall, along with drivers like Robert Huffman, Dennis Setzer, Andy Houston, and Larry Caudill. And current-day stars like Josh Berry, Ryan Millington, Landon Huffman, Jacob Heafner, and Josh Kossek have put their names on the wall too.

It's because of all those names that Hickory Motor Speedway’s place in racing lore is so cemented, and why winning any race at Hickory is so special for every driver.

Who Are Past Winners of the Fall Brawl?

The Fall Brawl has been one of the main-stays on the Hickory schedule since its inaugural race in 1998, and it’s been won by some big names throughout the years. The first one was won by a champion in the NASCAR Cup Series, though he won his Cup championship as a crew chief. That crew chief/driver is Rodney Childers.

The Fall Brawl has also been won by Denny Hamlin, multi-time NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion Ben Rhodes, Josh Berry, Tyler Ankrum, Anthony Alfredo, Taylor Gray, Mason Diaz, and Kade Brown just to name a few.

It was also famously won by Coleman Pressley, who is traditionally the spotter for Joey Logano on Sundays. Pressley won the race as a driver in 2022 with Logano serving in Pressley’s normal role as spotter, when the pair were one week removed from winning the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series championship.

What Divisions Are Racing During The Fall Brawl?

The Fall Brawl itself is a 200-lap race for the Late Model Stock Car division, which is the premier racing division in the Carolinas and Virginia. It is also the same division that headlines the CARS Tour.

But the Fall Brawl as an event will also see Limited Late Models, Carolina Pro Late Models, the STARS Super Stock Tour, Allison Legacy Series, and Hickory Vintage Series all in action throughout the day.
