NASCAR has suspended NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Conner Jones for one race following an incident during Saturday's race at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Jones' suspension will be in effect for this weekend's event at Martinsville Speedway.

Jones, driving the No. 66 ThorSport Racing Ford made contact with Matt Mills on Lap 76 of the 134 lap race at Homestead. The contact from behind sent Mills up the track and into the outside wall. With his No. 42 Niece Motorsports Chevrolet on fire, Mills came to a stop and exited the truck under his own power. However, he was transported to a local hospital before being released on Monday.

Jones received a two-lap penalty following the incident.

Jones released a statement about the incident Saturday night on X (formerly Twitter).

"I have not yet had the chance to personally apologize to Matt for the incident that took place during today's race at Homestead-Miami Speedway, but I intend to do so," Jones posted. "Matt and I have encountered several on-track incidents this season, and I let my frustration get the best of me. I underestimated the impact my actions would have on Matt, and I deeply regret the consequences that followed.

"My thoughts are with Matt, during this time after hearing that he has been taken to the hospital for further evaluation following the contact on the racetrack."

ThorSport has yet to release a statement or announce who may fill in for Jones during Friday's race at Martinsville, though former NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion Johnny Sauter is currently on the entry list as the driver of the No. 66.

In addition to his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series duties, Jones has been competing in CARS Tour Late Model Stock Car events throughout the 2024 season. In fact, he closed out the CARS Tour season by winning the final two events at Tri-County Speedway and North Wilkesboro Speedway.
