ValleyStar 300 At Martinsville Speedway Schedule, Entry List & How To Watch
Entry list, event schedule, and live stream information for the 2024 ValleyStar Credit Union 300 at Martinsville Speedway.
The biggest race in Late Model Stock Car racing is finally upon us. Some call it Christmas coming early, others simply call it the ValleyStar Credit Union 300 at Martinsville Speedway, and it’s this Saturday night live on FloRacing.
With that in mind, it’s time to make sure race fans are up to date on everything you need to know before this weekend’s ValleyStar Credit Union 300.
What Is The ValleyStar Credit Union 300?
The ValleyStar Credit Union 300 is a 200-lap Late Model Stock Car race run every fall since 1985 (with the exception of 2020) at the historic Martinsville Speedway.
The feature itself is 200 laps long. There are four 25-lap qualifying heat races, with the top 10 finishers in each race advancing to the starting field for the 200-lap feature.
The race pays out $32,000 to the winner, plus bonuses. There is a $5,000 bonus to the fast qualifier, and a $1,000 bonus to the winner of each stage. Each lap led also pays out $25, so there’s $5,000 more that is available as well.
But the real prize that every driver is after is the historic Grandfather Clock trophy that the winner of every race at Martinsville Speedway takes home.
Where Is Martinsville Speedway?
Martinsville Speedway is a narrow half-mile oval located in rural Martinsville, Virginia. It is one of the most historic tracks in all of NASCAR. It has had a date on the NASCAR schedule every year since NASCAR was formed in 1949.
Martinsville 300 Qualifying Format
There are technically two qualifying sessions for the ValleyStar Credit Union 300. The first qualifying session takes place on Saturday morning. That session is a single-car qualifying format.
Saturday morning’s qualifying session determines the starting lineups for Saturday’s heat races, and who will take home the $5,000 fast qualifier bonus award. Friday’s qualifying session DOES NOT lock any driver into the starting field.
On Saturday afternoon, every driver will participate in a 25-lap qualifying heat race. There will be four 25-lap heat races, with the top 10 finishers from each heat race advancing into the starting lineup.
Drivers that fail to finish in the top 10 in their heat race will see their day come to an end as there is no last chance qualifier.
This year, no driver is locked into Saturday's main event. The only way to make the field is through the four 25-lap heat races. In the event that all or some of the heat races cannot be completed due to weather, Trevor Ward will be guaranteed a starting position in the feature due to winning last year's ValleyStar Credit Union 300 in a thrilling photo finish over Landon Huffman.
