It was a battle of the Michigan-born NASCAR Cup Series drivers at the Battle at Berlin on Wednesday night. Oh, and Bubba Pollard too, of course. But when all was said and done it was Portage, Michigan’s Carson Hocevar holding off Byron, Michigan’s Erik Jones to win the massive $40,000 prize at Berlin Raceway.

Hocevar took the lead from Jones with a daring move on a late-race restart brought about by a scheduled competition caution at the end of 50 consecutive green-flag laps. Jones was able to mount one more charge with seven laps to go, but Hocevar held him off and drove off to the victory by 0.738-second over Jones.

Pollard finished third with Michael Atwell fourth and Kole Raz fifth in his first trip to Marne, Michigan’s tricky half-mile.

2022 Battle at Berlin winner Evan Shotko finished sixth with Brian Campbell, Chase Burda, Jeremy Doss, and Treyten Lapcevich completing the top 10.
