Previewing The 2024 Front Row Challenge And Foot Race
A foot race is again part of the program for the 2024 Sage Fruit Front Row Challenge at Southern Iowa Speedway.
The 29th annual Sage Fruit Front Row Challenge presented by Your Life Iowa and Country Builders Racing is set to take place Monday, Aug. 5 at Southern Iowa Speedway. The $21,000-to-win Monday night program is part of a busy week for Sprint Car drivers and fans alike.
What makes the Front Row Challenge unique beyond the fact that it's sandwiched between Aug. 4's Capitani Classic at Knoxville Raceway and Aug. 7-10's Knoxville Nationals is that for the third year in a row, a foot race on the frontstretch will determine the top-eight starting positions.
Three 40-yard dashes will be contested with the top-two finishers from the first two dashes racing for the pole position in the final dash. The overall winner of the foot race will win $1,500 courtesy of Priority Aviation and the pole position for the 30-lap main event.
Smith Titanium Ups will also be awarding $3,000 to winners of each heat race, up $1,000 from last year's heat race winnings.
Last year’s foot race won by James McFadden helped the Australian to his first career Front Row Challenge victory. McFadden, who took home more than $25,000 in winnings, beat Carson Macedo, Blake Hahn and Brent Marks in the final round of the foot race while Scott Bogucki, Kyle Larson, Austin McCarl, and Justin Sanders also participated in the opening rounds.
Nearly 40 drivers competed in the Front Row Challenge last year and another strong field is expected once again for the Monday night event in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Corey Day, Larson, Carson Macedo, Marks, McCarl, and McFadden are among the many drivers expected to compete at the Front Row Challenge.
