We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again. The CARS Tour just does not disappoint. That was the theme at the end of a topsy-turvy rough-and-tumble 125-lap brawl for the Late Model Stock Cars on Wednesday night at Caraway Speedway that eventually saw Brent Crews escape as the winner for the second time this season.

Crews scored the win by being the last driver to use the bumper in the final laps. Crews knocked points leader Connor Hall out of the way in the final corners to take the lead and the win.

To be clear, Crews was far from the only driver to employ said tactic. The rough racing started right from the drop of the initial green flag, but in the end it picked up steam on the final restart with eight laps to go.

Defending champion Carson Kvapil and Hall, who have had some history together this season, got together right away and that set the tone over the final laps. Kvapil moved Hall, Hall moved Kvapil. Crews moved Hall, Kvapil moved Crews. William Byron moved Hall, Hall moved Byron. Hall moved Kvapil again, and then moved Crews again. Then Crews did it back to Hall, and then the checkered flag waved.

You follow all that? Because we’re still not sure even we fully understand what we witnessed over those final eight laps on Wednesday.

What we are sure about is Crews took the win for the second time this season, Byron somehow finished second, with Hall in third. Polesitter Jared Fryar snuck back up there to finish fourth, and Kvapil rounded out the top five.

Hall entered Wednesday’s race with a three-point lead over Brenden Queen and a 12-point lead over Crews. Hall’s lead over Queen is sure to gain as Queen finished a distant 23rd after crashing with 69 laps on the board.

The CARS Tour now takes a couple of weeks off before hitting the track at Hickory Motor Speedway for the fan-favorite throwback event on Saturday, July 27th where both the Pro Late Models and Late Model Stock Cars will be in action together once again.
