Pennsylvania Tracks Announce New Wicker Bill Rule For Sprint Cars
BAPS Motor Speedway, Lincoln Speedway, Port Royal Speedway and Williams Grove Speedway have announced a new wicker bill rule for Sprint Cars.
A quartet of Pennsylvania Posse country race tracks have come together to adopt a new rule to better align themselves with traveling Sprint Car series’ around the country.
Officials from BAPS Motor Speedway, Lincoln Speedway, Port Royal Speedway and Williams Grove Speedway recently announced that they are adopting a one-inch wicker bill rule for 410 Sprint Cars, effective immediately. This is matching a similar rule with that in the High Limit Racing Sprint Car Series and World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series.
A wicker bill is a component added to the back edge of the wing at a 90 degree angle in order to improve handling. Previously, the rule allowed a maximum two-inch wicker bill, which essentially doubles the downforce and adds grip to the left rear corner of a Sprint Car.
“Effective immediately, BAPS Motor Speedway, Lincoln Speedway, Port Royal Speedway and Williams Grove Speedway are adopting a one-inch wicker bill rule for 410 Sprint Cars to align with the National Series," the tracks said in a joint release. This change should not cost race teams any additional money. If any changes should be needed to this rule, we will address them at that time.”
One of the most vocal advocates of this rule and one not afraid to speak his mind, Posse racer Danny Dietrich gave out his stamp of approval on X (formerly Twitter).
There's not much to say about the new wicker bill, rule change other than.... ABOUT DAMN TIME!

This should ultimately make for better racing, less rubber down tracks, less tire wear, and less wear and tear on our engines.
Race fans in Pennsylvania will get their first chances at seeing the new rule change this weekend at Lincoln Speedway on Saturday, March 16 and Williams Grove Speedway on Sunday, March 17. Sprint Cars make their first appearance of 2024 at Port Royal Speedway next Saturday, March 23 while BAPS Motor Speedway has their first Sprint Car show the next day, March 24.
