Pennsylvania Sprint Car Season Begins With Ice Breaker At Lincoln Speedway
The 2024 Sprint Car season in Pennsylvania begins this Sunday, February 25 with the Ice Breaker at Lincoln Speedway.
Another year of Sprint Car racing in Pennsylvania Posse Country begins this weekend with the traditional Ice Breaker at Lincoln Speedway. The annual event will kick off the 2024 season with a full program of 410 Sprint Car racing on Sunday, February 25.
The racing program originally scheduled for Saturday, February 24 has been canceled due to a poor weather forecast.
Many of the region's top drivers, best known as the "PA Posse," are expected to compete in the race. Drivers expected to be in attendance include four-time defending Lincoln track champion Freddie Rahmer, "Double D" Danny Dietrich and 2023 Port Royal Speedway track champion Devon Borden.
Rahmer enters the event as the two-time defending winner of the season-opening race at Lincoln Speedway. A year ago, Rahmer won the Thursday portion of the Ice Breaker after the Saturday portion was move up two days due to weather. Justin Peck won the Sunday portion of the event last year.
Sunday's event will feature the debut of the highly-discussed virtual flagman system that the track will utilize this season. A flagman will still be present for the event as the track adjusts to using the new system.
Sunday's racing programs at Lincoln Speedway will be single-division events with only 410 Sprint Cars in action for a 30 lap, $6,000-to-win main event.
Racing is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. ET.
Fans unable to attend the event in person will be able to watch live on FloRacing beginning at approximately 2:15 p.m. ET. If you're not already a FloRacing subscriber, you can sign up today by clicking here.
