Spencer Bayston made it back-to-back nights of first-time Chili Bowl preliminary winners on Thursday, dominating all 30 laps to lock-in for his sixth Championship A-Main. The RMS Racing, Sage Fruit No. 1S was untouchable against another choppy cushion inside the Expo, leading every lap and running virtually unchallenged to become the 53rd preliminary winner in event history.
Locking-in along with Bayston was 2022 Golden Driller champ, Tanner Thorson, in his own No. 88. Thorson battled with Ricky Thornton Jr, then Karter Sarff, Chase Johnson, and CJ Leary as the final lock-in spot heated up. Ultimately, Thorson survived and punched his ticket into his 10th consecutive Chili Bowl Championship A-Main - the longest active streak.

Matt Seymour Racing’s Tim Buckwalter ended up P6 to get into Saturday’s B-Main.
