With over 360+ Midgets entered for the Chili Bowl Nationals, it can get a little confusing as to who’s racing for who inside Tulsa’s SageNet Center. We’re here to break down the biggest teams and the drivers they’re bringing to battle for the Golden Driller.

How To Watch The 2024 Chili Bowl

With the three-headed monster of Kyle Larson, Christopher Bell and Rico Abreu out of the picture, some worried about the caliber of talent KKM could bring to the Chili Bowl but boy have they reloaded with a stout 13 drivers.

Headlining the group is former preliminary winners Buddy Kofoid, Cannon McIntosh and Tanner Carrick, plus Tulsa Shootout champions Emerson Axsom, Ryan Timms, Gavan Boschele, and Jade Avedisian, who is joined by Taylor Reimer as one of two talented females on the squad. The lineup is stacked with contenders from top-to-bottom also including Brent Crews, Gavin Miller, Mariah Ede, Tom Harris, and the lone rookie, Kale Drake.

CB Industries

After collecting two Golden Drillers from the Tulsa Shootout, Chad Boat and his group are refreshed and ready to try for their first Chili Bowl title next week with five entries. Chris Windom, a 10-time Championship A-Main starter, is the veteran of this lineup in his NOS Energy Drink No. 89. A new name to the team is Oklahoman Daison Pursley in the No. 86, fresh off a sensational Tulsa Shootout performance where he passed 39 cars in three features. The five-car team is rounded out by familiar faces including Bryant Wiedeman, Jesse Love and Tanner Holmes.

Swindlell SpeedLab

Even after his dominant 2023 USAC Midget Championship with Abacus Racing, it was a no-brainer for Logan Seavey to return to Tulsa with Kevin and Jordan Swindell, Mike Curb and Todd Bertrand - after all, they won the Golden Driller last year. Everything remains the same for the No. 39 with Seavey piloting the Victory Fuel themed machine in Friday’s preliminary as the one and only focus for this one-car operation.

Abacus Racing

Although Seavey will stick with Swindell for Chili Bowl, the Abacus group remains an interesting watch next week considering their talented trio and the move to the SP3 tire, which they dominated on all season long. Led by Brent Cox with Johnny Cofer on the wrenches, Abacus will welcome Tyler Courtney, David Gravel and Michael Pickens to the team, all three who have competed for the Golden Driller in Saturday’s Championship A-Main.

Reinbold/Underwood Motorsports

Andy and Tammy Reinbold have again brought an intriguing five-car lineup to Tulsa as they chase a second Golden Driller. Their quickly improving son, Hayden Reinbold, will be joined by Lucas Oil Late Model ace Ricky Thornton Jr (who nearly made the A-Main last year), outdoor regular Mitchel Moles (who has been close to winning prelims), Cole Bodine (who has been close to locking-in), and a rookie in Carson Perkins.

Tanner Thorson Racing

After winning his Golden Driller with Reinbold/Underwood in 2022, Tanner Thorson organized his own operation for 2023 and it quickly took off - winning his Chili Bowl prelim and running a close P2 to Seavey on Saturday. He’ll be back in his own ride next week trying to follow Kyle Larson as the newest owner/driver to win it all. He’ll also bring Ace McCarthy in a No. 28 ride, who competed at the front of Friday’s preliminary last year.

Matt Wood Racing

It’s another five-car team for Matt Wood Racing with four Californians and one Oklahoman in the lineup. Leading the way as always is 10-time Championship A-Main starter Shane Golobic, who returns to Tulsa after a career-best fourth-place finish last year. The lone Oklahoman in the group is former World of Outlaws champion, Daryn Pittman, who has made himself known as a threat for the Golden Driller with five top-10 runs and a 2017 runner-up. Also competing for MWR is former A-Main starters Ryan Bernal and Colby Copeland plus a young star in Landon Brooks.

RMS Racing

While the Matt & Dave Estep led RMS group has five entries labeled, only two are confirmed at the moment with Justin Grant and Spencer Bayston both returning to their rides. JG has been ultra close to the Golden Driller in the past, winning five of his last seven prelim nights and finishing on the championship podium thrice. For Bayston, the now full-time winged racer has wasted no time in getting reacclimated to midgets, winning last year’s Race of Champions and locking-in from Tuesday’s preliminary.

Matt Seymour Racing

After putting both cars in the Championship A-Main last year, Matt Seymour will bring Hank Davis and Tim Buckwalter back to Tulsa to try and do it again. Davis will be defending his Tuesday night preliminary win, while Buckwalter will be going for back-to-back top-10 finishes on Saturday.

Dave Mac Dalby Motorsports

Six cars are on the agenda for Dave Mac Dalby, including Indianapolis 500 contender Santino Ferrucci and High Limit Racing full-timer Parker Price-Miller. They’ll be joined by Jace McIntosh, Brock Berreth, Brody Wake, and Dylan Menz.

Trifecta Motorsports

Steve Carbone and “Janky Bobby” have built a strong three-car group with two Tulsa Shootout champions and a National Midget winner on the team. California’s Michael Faccinto drives the No. 5U with Illinois’ Chase McDermand in the No. 7U and Delaware’s Kyle Spence in the No. 9U.

Andy Bondio

Three-time Chili Bowl Champion car owner Andy Bondio is bringing one American and one international racer to the Chili Bowl this year. He’ll have former preliminary winner and podium finisher Zach Daum in the No. 47X to go along with New Zealand ace Brad Mosen in the No. 47.
