Will NASCAR Street Race Winner Shane Van Visbergen Race CARS Tour In 2024?
Shane Van Gisbergen will race a variety of NASCAR, Late Model, and other events with Trackhouse Racing in 2024.
Trackhouse Racing announced on Wednesday night that three-time Supercars champion Shane Van Gisbergen will be moving to America in 2024 “to drive in a combination of races in NASCAr’s three national series in the 2024 season.” But will we also see “SVG” in a CARS Tour race too?
The possibility of seeing the winner of NASCAR’s inaugural street race driving a Late Model Stock Car with Bobby McCarty, Carson Kvapil, and Brenden “Butterbean” Queen has a good chance of becoming a reality next year.
Buried in Trackhouse Racing’s press release were a few key words that read, “plus some late model and other races.”
For some background knowledge, Justin Marks is the owner of Trackhouse Racing, and as of late 2022 is a co-owner of the CARS Tour. When the CARS Tour was sold, it was sold to Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kevin Harvick, Jeff Burton, and also Justin Marks.
Trackhouse said their intentions for the New Zealand driver is to have him run races in the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, and the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series with the goal being to get him as quickly acclimated to pavement ovals as possible.
Careful what you wish for.

So far, Van Gisbergen has competed on a pavement oval just once. That came in August with the Craftsman Truck Series at the Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park in Claremont, Indiana. Van Gisbergen finished 19th, the first truck one lap down.
Van Gisbergen does have oval experience, but most of it has come on the dirt. Van Gisbergen made his Sprint Car debut last December at New Zealand’s Western Springs Speedway. Then in January of this year, Van Gisbergen picked up the checkered flag in a race at the Robertson Prestige International Speedway in New Zealand.
The CARS Tour is a perfect place for Van Gisbergen to gain pavement oval track experience. Soon-to-be NASCAR Cup Series driver Josh Berry is a graduate (and past champion) of the CARS Tour. Most recently, both current Trackhouse Racing drivers, Ross Chastain and Daniel Suarez, competed with the CARS Tour in both Late Model Stock Car and Pro Late Model competition to prepare for the NASCAR All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro Speedway back in May.
So will we be seeing Shane Van Gisbergen in a CARS Tour race next year? While all signs point towards yes, we’ll just have to wait and see.
The remainder of the 2023 CARS Tour season will be streamed live on FloRacing. The CARS Tour heads to South Boston Speedway for their next race on Saturday, October 7 live on FloRacing. Fans can watch each CARS Tour event with a FloRacing subscription. Fans can subscribe by clicking here.
