Jennerstown Speedway Set For Sixth Annual Motor Mountain Masters

The Sixth Annual Motor Mountain Masters at Pennsylvania’s Jennerstown Speedway is finally upon us. At the end of 150 laps around the high-banked 0.522-mile oval, one winner will take home the $10,000 top prize and the legendary red jacket.

Jennerstown Speedway officials have been trickling out entries on the track’s Facebook page, and some heavy hitters are making the trip to Jennerstown for Saturday night’s race.

Heading back to Jennerstown and headlining the entry list is the defending winner of the Motor Mountain Masters, Michigan’s Evan Shotko. The Coopersville, Michigan driver is fresh off a third-place run in the Battle at Berlin at Berlin Raceway, finishing only behind Bubba Pollard and Chase Elliott.

Shotko’s win in last year’s Motor Mountain Masters is what put the family-owned team on the map in pavement Late Model racing, even with it being rain-shortened after 88 of the scheduled 150 laps. Shotko led all but three laps that evening last year in a truly dominating effort.

The driver that Shotko beat for the victory was Rowley, Massachusetts native Eddie MacDonald. MacDonald is back and looking for redemption at Jennerstown this weekend. This weekend will be MacDonald’s third trip to Jennerstown Speedway for the Motor Mountain Masters. He’s finished second in both races, first to Derek Griffith in 2021, and then to Shotko last year.

New Hampshire’s Gabe Brown is another out-of-towner returning to Jennerstown on Saturday night. Brown is still looking for his first victory of any kind in 2023, and what better place for it to happen than Jennerstown Speedway in the Motor Mountain Masters. Brown finished fourth in last year’s edition of the race.

The driver making the undisputed furthest tow to Jennerstown is Houston, Texas driver Chris Davidson. Davidson’s trip is about 1,400 miles from home to southwestern Pennsylvania. Davidson scored a fifth-place run last year, but he’s definitely hoping to take home more than the $1,500 that fifth-place paid out.

One surprising name on the pre-entry list is that of Denver, North Carolina’s Mike Harmon. The NASCAR Xfinity Series team owner known as “The Harmonator” hasn’t made a Late Model start in nearly 20 years, but he’ll be looking to score the victory on Saturday night and take home that sweet red jacket.
