Tyler Courtney Suffers Back Injury; Sidelined For Kings Royal
2021 event champion Tyler Courtney is out for the remainder of Kings Royal weekend at Eldora Speedway after a back injury suffered on Friday.
Tyler Courtney has withdrawn from Saturday’s 40th running of the Kings Royal at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, because of a back injury suffered in Friday’s Knight Before the Kings Royal program.
The Clauson Marshall Racing team ruled the 2021 Kings Royal champion out for the remainder of the weekend in a post social media late Saturday morning, which also said he’s “expected to make a full recovery."
“We look forward to having Sunshine back in the NOS Energy Drink 7BC soon,” the team said in Saturday’s news-revealing post. “Thank you everyone for your positive thoughts and well wishes.”

Courtney’s injury occurred in an accident on lap two of Friday’s World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series feature, where he flipped in turns one and two running ninth.
The Indianapolis, Ind., driver currently leads the All Star Circuit of Champions standings by 162 points over fellow USAC descendent Chris Windom ahead of the next series race, the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup, on Tuesday, July 18 at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa.
