Late Model Stars Will Be Out In Full Force This Weekend At Thunder Road
New England's best late model drivers from the American-Canadian Tour and Pro All Stars Series will be at Thunder Road Speedbowl to kick off the season.
Many of New England's most accomplished late model racers will be making the trip to Barre, Vermont this weekend to kick off the 64th season of racing at the historic Thunder Road Speedbowl. The weekend event featuring the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Models on Saturday, May 6 and the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Models on Sunday, May 7 will put a star-studded field of drivers on display for fans in attendance and those watching live on FloRacing.
Saturday's 150-lap PASS race will feature some of the most recognizable names and accomplished racers in late model racing. The list of drivers expected to compete in the race includes champions from the Pro All Stars Series and Granite State Pro Stock Series, as well as winners of major events like the Oxford 250 and Vermont Milk Bowl.
Sunday's ACT Community Bank 150 will include a strong field of drivers that have won ACT championships, Thunder Road championships and major events throughout New England.
Let's take a look at some of the stars who will be competing this weekend.
Bobby Therrien (PASS & ACT)
Adding a bit of local flare to the PASS roster for Saturday's race will be Bobby Therrien, the 2017 Thunder Road track champion and 2019 Vermont Milk Bowl winner. Therrien, who is also a former Labor Day Classic winner at Thunder Road, will be seeking his first ACT Community Bank 150 win on Sunday.
Brooks Clark (ACT)
While Clark may not be as flashy or as big of a name as others on this list, his resume at Thunder Road can't be denied. Two years ago, Clark swept the ACT Late Model events at the track by winning the ACT Community Bank 150 and Labor Day Classic 200.
Christopher Pelkey (ACT)
No driver enters this weekend's event with more momentum on his side than Christopher Pelkey. The humble driver from South Barre, VT put an exclamation point on his championship season at Thunder Road by winning the Vermont Milk Bowl last October.
Derek Gluchacki (ACT)
Gluchacki, one of the American-Canadian Tour's newest stars, enters the weekend as the current ACT points leader. After scoring three wins a year ago, Gluchacki started the 2023 season in victory lane at New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the second year in a row.
Derek Griffith (PASS)
A former PASS National champion who made six NASCAR Xfinity Series starts in 2022, Griffith be seeking his second career win at Thunder Road after collecting a PASS win in 2019.
Derrick O'Donnell (ACT)
"The Black Night of the White Mountains" is always a threat to win at his home track. O'Donnell, a three-time Thunder Road track champion, finished second in last year's ACT Community Bank 150.
D.J. Shaw (PASS & ACT)
Five-time PASS North champion D.J. Shaw will be seeking his third (and maybe fourth) career victory at the "Nation's Site of Excitement" following a PASS win in 2017 and an ACT Late Model win at the track last September. Shaw will be pulling double duty in the No. 60 PASS Super Late Model and No. 04 ACT Late Model.
Gabe Brown (PASS & ACT) / Max Cookson (PASS)
Young guns Gabe Brown and Max Cookson will both be seeking redemption at the Barre, VT oval this weekend after an on-track collision while battling for the lead last September took both drivers out of contention for the PASS win. Brown will have two shots to win this weekend as he pulls double duty in the PASS and ACT races.

Jason Corliss (ACT)
No driver has been better at Thunder Road than Jason Corliss over the last decade. The Barre native is a three-time track champion, three-time Milk Bowl winner, three-time Vermont Governor's Cup winner, three-time Memorial Day Classic winner and a three-time Community Bank 150 winner.
Jean-Paul Cyr (ACT)
It's been eight years since Jean-Paul Cyr has climbed in behind the wheel of an ACT Late Model. The seven-time ACT champion will make his return to racing this weekend in his first start since the 2015 Vermont Milk Bowl.
Jimmy Hebert (ACT)
Hebert, a native of nearby Williamstown, Vermont, returns to his home track seeking his first career ACT Community Bank 150 win. As hard as it is to believe, the 2020 American-Canadian Tour champion has never won an ACT race at Thunder Road. He's hoping to change that this weekend.
Joey Doiron (PASS)
Two-time Granite State Pro Stock Series champion Joey Doiron, the winner of the inaugural PASS Super Late Model race at Thunder Road, will return to the Barre high-banks behind the wheel of the Petit Motorsports No. 73b.
Joey Polewarczyk (ACT)
The driver best known as "Joey Pole" is back with the American-Canadian Tour full-time in 2023. Pole, the 2020 ACT champion, has experienced success at Thunder Road in the past with a Governor's Cup win in 2009, Milk Bowl win in 2010 and a PASS win in 2018.
Johnny Clark (PASS)
2021 Oxford 250 winner and seven-time PASS North champion Johnny Clark will make his way to Thunder Road with hopes of claiming his first career win at the track.
Quinny Welch (ACT)
Nine-time White Mountain Motorsports Park track champion Quinny Welch is expected to join the field for Sunday's ACT Community Bank 150. Despite his dominance at White Mountain, Welch is still seeking his first career American-Canadian Tour win.
Trevor Sanborn (PASS)
Trevor Sanborn, the winner of this year's PASS North season opener at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park, will be looking to get back to Thunder Road victory lane after claiming the win in 2021.
