Barre’s Thunder Road International Speedbowl roars back to life this Thursday, June 20 headlined by the 45th Vermont Governor’s Cup presented by the Vermont Lottery. The 150-lap showdown serves as Round #2 in the Squier Cup Triple Crown Series and sets up a battle between the Maplefields/Irving Late Models, several expected American-Canadian Tour invaders and reigning NASCAR Xfinity Series champion Cole Custer along with track championship action for the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers and rk Miles Street Stocks with a special 6:30pm post time.

Kenley Dean Squier, founder of Barre, Vermont’s Thunder Road, co-founder of the Motor Racing Network (MRN), NASCAR Hall of Famer and the voice of sports events across Vermont, New England and beyond passed away on Wednesday, November 15 at the age of 88.

Barre, VT — Following the tremendous success of the inaugural Granite City 100 on Sunday, May 29th, Thunder Road and Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series officials are excited to announce that the Modifieds will return for the 60th Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic weekend on Sunday, May 28th, 2023. Highlighted by rip-roaring speeds as drivers drafted and fought for every position with three of the top Modified drivers in the East left standing in victory lane, the Granite City 100 proved to be one of the biggest racing events in the Northeast this season.

Barre, VT — Memorial Day Weekend brings with it the start of summer, and especially the beginning of full-fledged race season. For race fans from across New England, seeing 138 different racecars pack the pit area of Thunder Road International Speedbowl on Sunday was a welcome sight for the summer season ahead. Along with the four weekly Thunder Road divisions, Tour-type Modifieds made their triumphant return for the first time in 12 years with the inaugural Granite City 100.

The 37th Annual Bolduc Metal Recycling Enduro 200 and Street Stock Special rumble around Barre’s Thunder Road this coming Sunday, August 8. “The People’s Race” is one of the year’s most popular events with 100 or more cars expected to do battle for fans at the track and watching live on FloRacing.

Late Model driver Jason Corliss is best known for his success at Thunder Road Speedbowl, but on Saturday night he created an unforgettable moment for those in attendance at White Mountain Motorsports Park. The Barre, Vermont native drove the final four laps of the race with his hood on his windshield and crossed the finish line first to collect a $10,000 payday.

Barre, VT — The first Thunder Road champion of the year will be crowned this Thursday, August 5 at Cody Chevrolet-Cadillac Night. The event features the Myers Container Service Triple Crown Series finale with 75 laps for the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers to decide who wins the title.

Thunder Road event broadcasts will have a new home in 2021. Track officials and FloRacing announced today they have signed a multi-year contract to stream all Thunder Road auto racing events both live and on-demand.
