Two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch made a rare dirt appearance Saturday night ahead of Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway. Busch competed in the 6th Annual Dan Salay Memorial/35th Annual Ed Vanduinen Wood Tic at Merritt Speedway (MI) in a Dirt Late Model prepared by Michigan standout Brandon Thirlby.

For the second time this year, Kyle Busch will race a Dirt Late Model this weekend prior to the NASCAR Cup Series event at Michigan International Speedway. Busch, a three-time NASCAR Cup Series winner already this season, will compete in the 35th Annual Wood Tic at Merritt Speedway on Saturday, August 5.

LAKE CITY, Mich. — Last year, Eric Spangler made all the right moves in the Wood Tic Memorial at Merritt Speedway minus the literal homestretch, when Rusty Schlenk upended what would have otherwise been a dominant victory by the veteran Spangler in a photo finish.
