The driver that swept through last year’s Sunoco North-South 100 action at Florence Speedway with three consecutive Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series wins won’t be sweeping this year’s crown jewel weekend, but Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Ill., was a single position shy of Thursday’s second semifeature victory in an eventful 25-lapper that saw him fall back as far as 18th.

Chris Madden’s perspective in Thursday’s technical inspection line at Florence Speedway was decidedly different than usual. Ricky Thornton Jr. of Chandler, Ariz., overpowered race-long leader Bobby Pierce with seven laps to go to win Wednesday's Castrol FloRacing Night in America event at Florence Speedway in Union, Ky. Thornton topped Pierce by 1.538 seconds for the $23,023 payday.

The second stop on the 2021 PDRA tour, the Stroud Safety PDRA Doorslammer Derby Presented by Classic Graphix on April 29-May 1 will mark the first time that the eighth-mile drag racing series visits the iconic Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
