The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series held its 18th race of the season Friday with the Farmer City 74 at Farmer City Raceway.

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series kicks off a weekend doubleheader in the Land of Lincoln with Friday’s $25,000-to-win second annual Farmer City 74 at Farmer City Raceway. It’s the second-ever series stop at the quarter-mile Farmer City, Ill., bullring and the opener of the third annual Illinois Speedweek after both Castrol FloRacing Night in America Series stops were rained out earlier in the week.

Illinois Speedweek returns for a third year in 2024 featuring the top drivers in all of Dirt Late Model racing. The four-race swing through Illinois begins on Wednesday night, May 8 and will continue through Saturday, May 11 with stops at four race tracks along the way.

Hall of Fame racer Billy Moyer’s long-predicted retirement was almost a thing late in the 2021 season and the early months of 2022. Then Moyer connected with veteran Illinois racer Tim Lance of Brimfield, Ill., making his first start in Lance’s equipment 363 days ago.

Sliding past race-long leader Gordy Gundaker entering turn three on the 47th lap, 14th-starting Brandon Sheppard of New Berlin, Illinois led the rest of Monday's Farmer City 74 for a $25,000 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series victory. Sheppard captured the rain-postponed Illinois Speedweek finale in taking the checkers 1.252 seconds ahead of Gundaker.

BATAVIA, Ohio – The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will take on two tracks new to the tour this weekend. The nation’s top dirt late model drivers will first visit Farmer City Raceway on Friday before tackling Fairbury Speedway on Saturday.

FARMER CITY, Ill. -- Persistent overnight rain that lingered into this morning has left the grounds at Farmer City (Ill.) Raceway too wet to host tonight's Castrol® FloRacing Night in America. The event has been canceled and will not be rescheduled.

Farmer City, IL – The Mars Racing Series opened up Labor Day weekend on Thursday night at Farmer City Raceway. The first of a two-night doubleheader at the quarter-mile facility saw 20 Late Models checked in for a shot at the $5,000 payday.
