All Stars Invade Port Royal For Three-Day Tuscarora Blockbuster
The Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions will invade Port Royal Speedway this week for three days of racing during the Tuscarora 50.
BROWNSBURG, Ind. -- In what has become a premier weekend on the nation’s open wheel calendar, Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 regulars, Pennsylvania Posse defenders, and a contingent of outside invaders, are all set to assemble at Port Royal Speedway in Juniata County this Thursday through Saturday, September 8-10, ready to battle elbows up and head-to-head for a total weekend winner’s share equaling $73,000.
Dubbed Tuscarora weekend, and headlined with the 55th running of the Tuscarora 50, action will kick-off officially tomorrow evening, Thursday, September 8, with an $8,000-to-win preliminary, resuming on Friday evening, September 9, with the annual Night Before the Tuscarora 50 awarding $10,000-to-win. As noted, the weekend’s headline event - the 55th running of the Tuscarora 50 - will go 50 laps in distance on Saturday night and will award a $55,000 payday.
Impressive enough, Saturday’s A-Main purse nears the brink of $142,000 and guarantees a minimum of $2,000 to start. Saturday’s A-Main runner-up will earn $15,000 with third place receiving $10,000.
In addition, a non-qualifiers feature will also be contested on Saturday evening awarding a $2,000 payday; the winner is automatically locked into the 2023 Tuscarora 50 main event.
Harrisonville’s Logan Wagner is the defending Tuscarora 50 champion at the Port Royal “Speed Palace,” forced to battle by seven-time Tuscarora 50 champion, Lance Dewease, to earn his crown jewel triumph. Dewease, who led laps 12 through 48 after taking command from St. Helena, California’s Rico Abreu, held on to finish second, followed by Anthony Macri, Dylan Cisney, and Brent Marks.
Republic, Ohio’s Cap Henry is the most recent All Star Circuit of Champions winner, scoring a $12,000 payday in Sharon Speedway’s annual Lou Blaney Memorial on Saturday, September 3. Henry’s winning campaign commenced from the front row, battling through waves of heavy pressure by Rico Abreu, Justin Peck, and Brent Marks. Henry’s career All Star victory count now sits at eight, six of which accomplished in the Buckeye State.
Henry is the most recent winner, but it’s “Sunshine” Tyler Courtney who still sits on top of the All Star title chase entering Port Royal Speedway’s Tuscarora weekend. The Indianapolis, Indiana, native and defending All Star champion is a six-time winner on the season, most recently sweeping Lake Ozark Speedway’s two-day Beach Brawl in late July.
Monrovia, Indiana’s Justin Peck is currently second in the All Star driver title chase, followed by Cap Henry, Hunter Schuerenberg, Zeb Wise, Bill Balog, Chris Windom, and Kyle Reinhardt.
