10 Favorites To Win The Eldora Million
10 Favorites To Win The Eldora Million
We take a look at 10 of the pre-race favorites for the 2022 Eldora Million at Eldora Speedway.
It's the question that everybody in the racing industry is asking: who is going to win the Eldora Million and become a millionaire on Thursday, June 9 at Eldora Speedway?
With the entry list already featuring 80+ drivers and growing, picking the winner is no easy task. But nothing that's good comes easy, right?
We've assigned ourselves the tough task of narrowing down the field and coming up with 10 drivers who should be considered favorites to win the one-million dollar prize.
Brandon Overton
You simply can't ignore what Overton accomplished one year ago at Eldora Speedway. In three of the four crown jewel events held at the track in 2021, Overton was a dominant force. He swept the Dirt Late Model Dream weekend in June and followed it up by winning the 51st Annual World 100 in September. When you talk about favorites to win the Eldora Million, the conversation starts with Overton.
Jonathan Davenport
You can't mention Overton without mentioning Davenport. "JD" was the only driver to beat Overton at Eldora last year when he won his fourth career World 100 in September. Davenport is also a former Dirt Late Model Dream winner and he won the Intercontinental Classic at the track in 2020. Add in a handful of preliminary night wins and it's easy to say Davenport has been one of the best at Eldora over the past decade.
Tim McCreadie
Somehow, it seems like McCreadie is flying under the radar entering the Eldora Million. But don't count him out. "T-Mac" has been very good at Eldora Speedway in recent years, with wins in the 2018 World 100 and 2020 Dirt Late Model Stream. He's also scored two World 100 preliminary victories during his career. McCreadie always seems to put himself in contention at the end of 100-lap races at Eldora, and his finishes of second and fourth in last year's World 100s back that up.
Brandon Sheppard
Sheppard hasn't experienced as much Eldora success as those listed above him, but he's still one of the best dirt late model racers this decade. "B-Shepp" broke through and claimed his first Eldora crown jewel in 2019 when he won the Dirt Late Model Dream. He finished fourth in April's Castrol FloRacing Night in America at Eldora and currently leads the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series standings.

Chris Madden
Currently ranked as the No. 1 dirt late model driver in America in the DirtonDirt.com power rankings, Madden has collected five wins worth more than $20,000 so far this year and his total winnings add up to $216,000. He's certainly add a great year so far, but adding a $1 million victory would take his 2022 season to a whole new level. Madden has never won a crown jewel event at Eldora, so there's no better time to breakthrough than the Eldora Million.
Tyler Erb
Erb is.the most recent dirt late model winner at Eldora after winning the Johnny Appleseed Classic on May 29. That win was the first of his career at the Rossburg, Ohio oval. His career performance at Eldora hasn't been earth shattering, but he does have top-five finishes in both the World 100 and Dirt Late Model Dream. Still, he's the most recent winner at the track and you can't ignore that.
Bobby Pierce
Despite not having the best luck at Eldora recently, the track has been fairly kind to PIerce over the course of his career. Highlighted by a win in the 2016 World 100, "The Smooth Operator" has four career main event victories at the track. Pierce has had speed so far this season, but he's struggled to finish races. If he's on the race track at the end of the Eldora Million, don't be surprised if he's in contention to win.
Scott Bloomquist
You didn't think we were going to leave the Eldora legend off the list, did you? We know what you're probably thinking: he hasn't won a race since the 2020 season. That doesn't matter. It's still Scott Bloomquist at Eldora Speedway and that is a combination you don't bet against. The eight-time Dirt Late Model Dream and four-time World 100 winner simply knows how to capture checkered flags at Eldora. "Black Sunshine" has been close to getting back to victory lane in 2022, with two runner-up finishes and seven top-five results. Earlier this year, he said that he's back. Don't be shocked if he puts an exclamation point on that message at Eldora.
Mike Marlar
Marlar is another driver that often seems to fly into big races under the radar. So far this year, he has a pair of Wild West Shootout wins, a World of Outlaws Late Model Series win and a victory in the Kyle Larson Late Model Challenge. While he's never visited victory lane at Eldora, he came close last September when he charged from 26th to finish second in the 50th Annual World 100.
Chris Ferguson
What have you done for me lately, Fergy? Oh, you won the Show-Me 100 last weekend? I suppose winning a crown jewel event two weeks before the Eldora Million is good enough to put you on our list of favorites. Ferguson is on a mission to win big-money races, and there's no target larger than the Eldora Million. Dating back to the 2020 season, he has four top-five finishes in six major events at Eldora. With momentum on his side, he'll be looking to pull into victory lane for the first time at Eldora.
