It's almost time for the Eldora Million at Eldora Speedway. Get ready for one of the biggest dirt races of all-time in this edition of "Everything You Need To Know" on FloRacing.
The Race
For the second time ever, a dirt late model driver will walk away from Eldora Speedway with one million dollars on Thursday, June 9.
The inaugural Eldora Million was held in 2001 and won by Donnie Moran. Now, 21 years later, the life-changing race returns and gives this generation of drivers the chance to become a millionaire.
The Track
Owned by three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Tony Stewart, Eldora Speedway is recognized as one of the top dirt tracks in the nation. The half-mile clay oval located in Rossburg, Ohio hosts some of the biggest annual dirt racing events, including the Dirt Late Model Dream, World 100, Kings Royal and 4-Crown Nationals.
The Format
The starting lineup will be set with the help of the Every Lap Matters format used for Eldora's crown jewel dirt late model events.
Drivers will accumulate points during Wednesday's qualifying, heat races and 25-lap preliminary features. After points are tallied based on Wednesday's results, the "Wheel of Misfortune" will determine an invert for Thursday night's heat race lineups.
Six heat races will be held with the top three finishers in each qualifying to the Eldora Million main event. The 19th and 20th starting spots will be given to the top two in Every Lap Matters points who did not qualify through heat races.
Two B-Features will send the top three finishers from each race to the main event. And finally, a pair of five-lap B-Scrambles will put the winner of each race on the final row for the feature. A total of 28 cars are expected to take the green flag for the 100-lap, $1,022,022-to-win main event.

Storylines
- Jonathan Davenport enters the Eldora Million as the most recent crown jewel winner at Eldora. Davenport won his fourth World 100 last September.
- Brandon Overton had a "dream" season at Eldora Speedway one year ago, winning a pair of Dirt Late Model Dreams and one of the two World 100s. He'll look to get back on top and become a millionaire at the Eldora Million.
- In addition to the biggest names in Dirt Late Model racing, there are a few outsiders expected to chase the $1 million prize at Eldora. 2021 Tezos All Star Circuit of Champion champion Tyler Courtney and 10-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car champion Donny Schatz will represent the Sprint Car world. NASCAR Cup Series winner Chase Briscoe is also planning to compete in the event after making his Super Late Model debut earlier this year.
- The Eldora Million will be the first major event for Eldora Speedway's new General Manager Jerry Gappens. Gappens is a veteran motorsports executive who previously promoted Gas City I-69 Speedway. He also spent 23 years with Speedway Motorsports at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and Charlotte Motor Speedway.
- During the inaugural Eldora Million in 2001, Donnie Moran passed Don O'Neal to claim the $1 million victory. Fast forward 21 years and their sons -- Devin Moran and Hudson O'Neal -- will be chasing an Eldora Million victory.
- Speaking of the Moran family, Devin hopes to break the "Moran Curse" with a victory. Since Donnie's Eldora Million win, the family has not won a race at Eldora Speedway.
