Chili Bowl Champ Tanner Thorson Parts-Ways With Reinbold-Underwood Racing
Tanner Thorson shocked the racing world Sunday by announcing his departure from Reinbold-Underwood Motorsports, the team he won the 2022 Chili Bowl with.
Defending Lucas Oil Chili Bowl champion Tanner Thorson announced late Sunday night via his Twitter account that he has parted ways with Reinbold-Underwood Motorsports in order to "explore other opportunities."
Those opportunities he's looking for include competing and wining on a national winged Sprint Car tour.
"Unfortunately I had to make this decision." Thorson said in a statement. "But I'm trying to better myself and my wing racing. I know I can win at the top level, I just need the right opportunity. We have had a lot of success in the midget and non-wing sprint car with RUM but I am looking to further my career in winged sprint car racing."

The success Thorson speaks of is real. Most notably, taking down Christopher Bell and Kyle Larson in the 2022 Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals. Thorson and Reinbold-Underwood also won big-time Midget and Sprint Car features with USAC.

Reinbold-Underwood Motorsports is a USAC National Championship winning organization. In 2019, in just their first season competing full-time with USAC, driver CJ Leary won the title with two wins, 32-top 10s and 11 fast times. The team, owned by former Sprint Car driver Andy Reinbold, has been only newly hiring drivers since 2015, and won their first USAC Sprint Car feature in 2017 at the Western World Championship.
