Dirt Late Model Stars Ready For Madness At Cherokee
Brandon Overton, Jonathan Davenport and other Dirt Late Model stars will be competing in Sunday's annual March Madness event at Cherokee Speedway.
Don't tell us we didn't warn you. Many of Dirt Late Model racing's biggest stars will be heading to "The Place Your Mama Warned You About," Cherokee Speedway, this Sunday for the annual March Madness event for the Southern All Star Racing Series.
The 60-lap Super Late Model main event at the Gaffney, South Carolina dirt track will pay $10,000 to win, making it a popular stop for the biggest names in dirt racing.
Leading the list of drivers planning to compete in the March Madness event is defending race winner and recent Cherokee Speedway dominator Brandon Overton. During his career-best season one year ago, Overton collected four wins, two second-place finishes and a third-place finish in seven starts at the track.
Jonathan Davenport, who leads all drivers with four career March Madness wins, is expected to return to Cherokee with hopes of collecting his fifth win in the race. Davenport's last March Madness win came in 2019.
The last driver to win a major Dirt Late Model event at Cherokee Speedway is also expected to be in attendance. Chris Madden, the winner of November's Blue Gray 100, will be looking to tie Davenport with his fourth career March Madness victory.
Ross Bailes, the 2017 March Madness winner and recent Winter Freeze winner at Screven, will be chasing his second win in the race.
