FloRacing To Broadcast King Of The Sandbox At Southern Raceway
FloRacing will offer live coverage of the $20,000 King of the Sandbox event at Southern Raceway on November 19-20.
The biggest race ever held at Southern Raceway in Milton, Fla., is getting even bigger. Promoters of the Nov. 19-20 King of the Sandbox presented by Sweet Victory Apparel Co. today announced an agreement with FloRacing to feature live video coverage of the unsanctioned Super Late Model event on FloRacing’s online platform.
FloRacing, the leader in live streaming of grassroots racing with live coverage of over 1,300 races in 2021, will stream live video of all of the racing action during the King of the Sandbox including unsanctioned Super Late Models competing for a possible $25,000 in winner’s pay.
Organized by Southern Raceway and the popular Dirt Late Model YouTube channel Hunt the Front, the King of the Sandbox will feature two complete programs for Super Late Models the weekend before Thanksgiving with Friday’s 30-lap feature paying $5,000-to-win and at least $500-to-start and Saturday’s 60-lap finale paying $20,000-to-win and at least $1,000-to-start. Each night will also feature local divisions competing for extra money in a condensed format of combined hot lap/qualifying and feature races only.
The late-season mega-event is already drawing interest from standout Super Late Model competitors. Ashton Winger of Hampton, Ga., has announced plans to continue his breakout season with a trip to Southern with his new team Brodnax-Shaker Motorsports team. Winger, the 21-year-old driver who this season has scored six DIRTcar Summer Nationals victories, four Southern All Stars wins and a World of Outlaws Late Model Series triumph, will be joined by a second Brodnax-Shaker entry driven by team co-owner G.R. Smith of Cornelius, N.C., who has three career victories at Southern Raceway and is the track’s Super Late Model track record holder.
Max Blair of Centerville, Pa., has also announced plans to compete at Southern as the standout 31-year-old racer and his Viper Motorsports team continue their preparations for a run at the World of Outlaws Late Model Series Rookie of the Year Award in 2022. Blair, who recently scored a career-high $25,000 payday at Bedford Speedway’s Keystone Cup, will be making his Southern Raceway debut at the King of the Sandbox.
A strong contingent of local Late Model talent is also expected to enter the event led by hometown driver Joseph Joiner, the 28-year-old star of the Hunt the Front YouTube videos who has enjoyed a career-best season in 2021 that has included scoring a $50,001 Crate Late Model victory at Louisiana’s Super Bee Speedway and qualifying for the main event at prestigious World 100 in his first-ever appearance at Eldora Speedway.
Full event details for the King of the Sandbox presented by Sweet Victory Apparel Co. will be announced next week along with the release of specially priced presale tickets.
