Everything You Need To Know About The World 100
Everything you need to know about the 50th and 51st Annual World 100 at Eldora Speedway.
The Race(s)
The World 100 is the most prestigious race in Dirt Late Model racing.
For the first time ever, two World 100s will be held during the same week at Eldora Speedway. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the 50th Annual World 100 was not held in 2020. As a result, the 50th and 51st Annual World 100 will be contested over the course of four days this week.
Both main events will be 100 laps, with $54,000 going to the winner of Thursday's race and $53,000 going to the winner of Saturday's race. There will also be preliminary action on Wednesday and Friday, with both nights featuring twin $10,000-to-win races.
The Track
Eldora Speedway is a half-mile clay oval located in Rossburg, Ohio. The track features 24 degrees of banking in the turns and eight degrees of banking on the straightaways.
Earl Baltes built the track in 1954 and hosted the first World 100 in 1971. The track has earned the moniker of "The House That Earl Built."
Baltes sold the track to former NASCAR champion Tony Stewart in 2004.
Eldora is widely considered to be one of the greatest dirt tracks in the world, hosting big events such as the World 100, Dirt Late Model Dream, Kings Royal and 4-Crown Nationals.
Dear Eldora gave those who know Eldora Speedway best a chance to write a letter to the track they love.
The Format
The action will get underway Wednesday night with timed hot laps, multi-car qualifying, heat races, last chance showdown and twin 25-lap features.
Heat race lineups for Thursday night will be determined by the Every Lap Matters format that awards drivers points for their finishes in Wednesday's multi-car qualifying, heat races, last chance showdowns and preliminary features.
But wait, there's a twist. The "Wheel of Misfortune" will be spun Thursday night to determine an invert for the six, 15-lap heat races.
From there, the top three finishers from each heat race will transfer to the World 100 and set the first 18 positions.
The two highest points drivers in the Every Lap Matters standings who do not qualify through heat races will be given the 19th and 20th starting positions in the World 100 main event.
There will then be two B-Features, with the top three finishers in each race qualifying for the big race.
A pair of five-lap B-Scrambles will send the winner of each race to the last row (27th and 28th) of the starting grid.
The same format used for Wednesday and Thursday will also be used for Friday and Saturday's event.

Storylines
- Brandon Overton swept the "Double Dreams" earlier this year at Eldora Speedway, collecting $273,000 in the process. He will now attempt to pull off the impossible and win two World 100s over the course of four days.
- Jonathan Davenport has won three of the last five World 100s. The driver known as "Superman" always seems to rise to the occasion when the lights are shining bright at Eldora. A fourth World 100 win would put him in an elite category of four-time winners that includes Scott Bloomquist and Donnie Moran.
- Speaking of Bloomquist, he'll be back behind the wheel for the first time since July 24. In addition to his three World 100 wins, Bloomquist has eight Dirt Late Model Dream victories at Eldora.
- Modified standout Nick Hoffman will be driving a Team Zero Race Car as a teammate to Bloomquist. Hoffman has four top-five finishes in 11 national touring series starts this year.
- Tyler Erb will be back in action after serving his suspension from World of Outlaws and DIRTcar Racing events. "Terbo" finished 10th in Sunday's Baltes Classic in his fist Eldora start since the 2019 World 100.
- Kyle Larson will attempt to add a win in the most prestigious Dirt Late Model race to one of the most memorable seasons in motorsports history. Larson will only have one chance to win a coveted globe trophy, as he will not be racing Saturday night due to the NASCAR Cup Series race at Richmond Raceway.
- Spencer Hughes enters the race as the most recent Late Model winner at Eldora. Hughes won Sunday's Baltes Classic, giving him momentum entering "Double World" week.
