Globe Trophy Puts Drivers On Top Of Late Model World
The most sought-after trophy in Late Model racing will be up for grabs twice during the World 100 at Eldora Speedway.
Plenty of folks have a globe in their home as a highfaluting piece of decoration, a general conversation piece, or — perhaps — an invitation to study a little geography.
But if a Dirt Late Model racer has a globe in his home or race shop, it's means so much more than that. A famed globed trophy is a tell-tale sign the driver has reached the pinnacle of the sport as a winner of the World 100 at the legendary Tony Stewart-owned, Earl Baltes-founded Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.
Each season, drivers trying to conquer the half-mile high-banked oval at the World 100 are all in quest of grabbing the envied globe — and standing on top of the world. There's no more prized trophy in a sport where thousands of drivers begin each season with a dream of reaching Eldora's victory stage and being handed the iconic trophy.
This year, because last season's World 100 was halted by pandemic restrictions, drivers will get a shot at two globes during a busier than ever World 100 week at Eldora. Four days. Hundreds of laps of racing. Scores of drivers. And two globes. What a world we live in.
