Flashback: Danny Serrano 100 Highlights at Bridgeport Motorsports Park
- Bridgeport Motorsports Park opens up their 2021 season with the Kingdom of Speed weekend, headlined by the 60-lap "Doug Hoffman Memorial" Big Block Modified feature paying $6,000 to win on Saturday.
- Originally scheduled for a three-day weekend, an unfavorable weather forecast for Sunday forced Bridgeport management to switch to a condensed two-day format.
- Following the 2019 season, new track owner Doug Rose transformed Bridgeport's sprawling 5/8-mile layout into a high-banked 4/10-mile oval that received rave reviews. For his efforts, Rose was nominated for the 2020 RPM Eastern Region Promoter of the Year award.
- Over 65 Modifieds are pre-entered for the weekend. Top contenders include:
- Defending Track Champion Billy "The Kid" Pauch, who picked up three victories at Bridgeport in a pandemic-shortened season, bringing his career win tally to 740.
- Alex Yankowski, the teenage sensation who captured last November's Danny Serrano 100 and then crashed spectacularly on the cool down lap.
- Current Short Track Super Series South Region point leader, Mike Mahaney, will be in action where he was triumphant in the Bridgeport's 1-on-1 Challenge last September.
- New York invader, Mike Maresca, winner of the High Banks 50 season finale.
- Tim Buckwalter returns to Bridgeport for the first time since being injured in a massive front stretch pileup in July.
- Plus: Billy Pauch Jr., Ryan Watt, Jimmy Horton, Rick Laubach, Duane Howard, Ryan Godown, Mike Gular, Craig Von Dohren, Frank Cozze, Jeff Strunk and more...
- The United Racing Club Winged 360 Sprints also open up their 2020 campaign on Saturday for the first of three appearances in South Jersey.
- Mid-Atlantic 305 Sprints along with Bridgeport's weekly 602 Sportsman-Modified and Street Stock divisions will also be in competition during the weekend.
